Okay, Omar Khadr can be treated as a Canadian as soon as his mother and father are arrested, charged, and found guilty of abusing their child by taking him to a war zone.

Good luck - as soon as that idea gets mentioned, his parents will suddenly be "out of the country" and won't ever come back.

You cannot have it both ways.

He was born here and is a canadian. that is not going to change.

His father is dead. so cannot be charged with anything.

If you have evidence against the mother please contact the authorities.

No I don't like free speech when Khadr's sister is on TV saying she supports the Taliban and hates Western idealogy. Why is she living here then?

Go back...I'll pay for the ticket.

They are terrorists. That was proven as soon as they fought for and supported the taliban.
well no terrorism charges have been proven. thats why we have trials.

I assume she wants to live here same as you. Its unfortunate you don't like free speech. thats part of western society too. If you think she has incited hatred with her speech you could seek to have charges brought through the police or a human rights tribunal. if you think she has done some criminal act then contact the authorities.

It's as clever as dismissing an entire post with a minor correction.
I have no idea what you're talking about. That makes two of us.

ManAboutTown said:
You ran out of points to argue, so you gave up.
You're right, I have given up. Not because of a lack of points to argue but because I consider attempting to reason with fanatics a waste of time.

So don't talk to yourself much?
No, as a matter of fact, I don't. Here's a little tip; it's usually not a good sign if you talk to yourself.

Stop listening to those voices in your head, they aren't helping you.

You are a clever one.

You have to admit, the compliment was somewhat backhanded.
No, not at all. I complimented you on the correct spelling.

As far as I can tell the expanded mandate came in 2003 but I could be wrong. if you can point to the UN resolution which gave them the authority as per your post above I would appreciate it. thanks
NATO/ISAF has two distinct roles in Afghanistan. In areas that are under Afghan government control their role is to assist the Afghan government in maintaining security. In all other areas they have the status of an occupying power.

In the beginning the Afghan government controlled a very, very small chunk of territory--pretty much Kabul and nothing else. In that very small area ISAF's role was different than elsewhere in Afghanistan--in that small area ISAF assisted the Afghan government in maintaining security.

In areas of Afghanistan NOT under the control of the Afghan government NATO/ISAF were and are an occupying power and are the sole arbiters of justice. Over time more and more of the Afghan territory has been handed over to the Afghans.

Khadr was arrested in an area of Afghanistan that was not under the control of the Afghan government.

Does he have dual citizenship (like those 5MM Canadians in Lebanon and Stephane Dion)? If yes, then is he a 1/2 Canadian?

Did anyone notice that Mohamed Elmasry is now playing the race card in the Khadr case? He is comparing Khadr to William Sampson which is completely ludicious. William Sampson was sentenced to die by having his head cut off. Khadr is far from any danger of having his head cut off.

Maybe we'll bring Khadr back at the same time we bring Christospher Neil back. Where is the outcry for Neil?
