Ok,
Can someone tell me just what exactly I'm supposed to get all excited about? His lawyer Mr Edney says “I hope Canadians will be outraged to see the callous and disgraceful treatment of a Canadian youth,” and his family is calling on the people of Canada to send a clear message to the PM to bring him home.
I saw the video and I don't see any harm being done to him. Of course he's upset, he's in a US military prison after being shot in combat with soldiers. What he supposed to be doing? Giving them high fives? Everybody knows that Guantanamo is not a summer camp. But he's being treated pretty well in comparison to the treatment a US or Canadian soldier would receive if they were captured by the Taliban. It is sad that someone so young could be brainwashed by his family to go to Afghanistan and conduct combat operations against NATO forces, however I'm trying to figure out why the press is trying to drum up so much sympathy for him and his family.
The Khadr family does not deserve my sympathy. They chose their side. And now that it's not working out so great for them they are asking for the very government they were conducting operations against to help them. Perhaps the Taliban or their good buddy Osama can give them a hand....

The bottom line is that...
Omar Khadr is a terrorist who is charged with murdering a US Soldier.He needs to be tried and if convicted locked up for the rest of his life...Just because he was 15 when the act occured means nothing as the Americans are not saddled with the Young Offendors Act that we have in Ontario.

The reason it is useless for Canada to have a military, is that the only
credible threat is from the US, who might covet our water and oil/gas.
But we would never be able to defend us against the US anyway.
