Lumix, dude, relax. Sting didn't have a problem performing with Sean Paul. Why is it bothering you so much?

Just gimme the light....just gimme the light and past the dro....

Remember, Hip Hop has been around since the late seventies and early eighties. It isn't just for kids.
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five must be like in their fifties by now.

I can't say I dig Sting or the Police. Always found Sting's voice to be very annoying. So if Sean Paul and Sting want to collaborate, let them do it.

And what does R. Kelly have to do with anything? He isn't even a hiphop/rap artist. He's R & B. Though I do agree that he shouldn't be putting out records or at least be so public til he get he gets exonerated or convicted.

LUMUX, please don't get your panties in a knot.

This is one of the funniest threads I've read. Sadly I didn't see the Grammy's last night, but I can't understand how one person can get this upset about Sean Paul singing with Sting.

BTW Lumix, I'm not name-calling or anything, but you DO sound like an ignorant, racist idiot.

ignorant = calling Sean Paul a gangsta rapper.
I saw an interview of him and my impression of Sean Paul was that he was a weed smoking, lady loving momma's boy. Who wouldn't last 5 seconds by himself in Compton.

racist = calling Sean Paul's music jungle music.
I guess you should call Sting a 'jungle lover' since he has experimented with jungle and tribal beats for a long time now. Actually didn't he spend some time in the jungle's of South America? From your argument that Sting recently came out with an album you obviously listen to Sting's recent music. If you can't hear the 'jungle' and 'tribal' rhythms in Sting's latest songs you must be deaf.

idiot = what's 'ska'
Now that's funny. Ska: a style of music popularized in the 60's and 70's (that musically influenced The Police and Sting's musical style) that originated from the West Indies (from where Sean Paul is from).

Calling Sting a legend and not knowing what Ska is, is just classic. One of the Moderators should make this a sticky.

If patois is english, it's english "slang". I f Miss V needs to translate, then it's only for people who understand it. It's "Jamaican English", which only people who are exposed to, or come from that backgound understand. If you ask the English from England they're the "only" ones who speak English.

Bob Marley is great , er was great . This guy , Sean Paul isn't even close ( in my opinion ) and the song wasn't really suited to the attempted mesh in styles . I didn't think they pulled it off . Below average performance .

Lumix - Are you so simple that you don't understand that your comment about - keeping that music in the jungle - is completely inappropriate? Or are you simply a racist prick?

Wasn't Ozzy up on stage for awhile last night?

Ska influenced band "No Doubt" won a Grammy and Gwen is the hottest woman alive.

If you don't like their music just say so...

Lumix, it has nothing to with Roxanne or Sting. I'm a big Sting fan and I enjoy hearing different arrangements of his songs. He's doing it more and more himself these days with acustical versions of harder rocking songs. Whether it's Sean Paul or Eddie Murphy (a personal favourite) doing Roxanne, it's not going to be Sting, so open your mind and you might find you like it.

I must say, I cringed at the thought of Vince Gill doing the Beetles, though.

How many rappers from 10 years ago are still around? How many from today will be around 10 years from now? Not many. IMO, the overall quality of music has most definitely declined in the past 10-15 years of so. This isn't limited to rap, but the fact that rap requires little musical talent in the form of actually be able to play an instrument definitely contributes to the decline. Popularity today is not the same as talent...

Yes, Patois is like English slang...that makes sense.

Lol. I didnt watch the entire Grammy show- I must have missed Ozzy. However, I was making a point about Sean Paul...And Ozzy (bless his heart) is a legend in his own right.

Jamacia, Hati and a couple other Caribbean countries have their Patois which is derived from a mix of French & English, but it is a language...

Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao have their Papiamentu which is a mix of Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, Dutch and West African but it is a language...

Even the English folks have their Cockney English and Australians have their quirky slangs.

My point is, they're all languages and it's only natural for someone who doesn't understand what is being said to feel uncomfortable about it. But I don't see the reason why someone would lash out and call it "Jungle music" which IMHO is a pretty derogatory.

Sting is not a child and he's man enough to say "NO" if he thought Sean Paul's rendition was an insult to his piece. Sting is a musician and has an open ear to world music. That's the difference btw Sting and Limux's views on music. Music has no borders and has a range of genres that stretches the globe.

Everyone is allowed to have their opinion on what they like but throwing insults at another style of music you don't agree on or dislike, is just childish.

Some comments are better left unsaid or in the privacy of your home but in public. If you're willing to throw comments like that out into the public, there ought to be alot of facts to backup and justify your remarks other than you just don't like it.

I don't see anything wrong with Lumix call it a jingle music. there is rock, blues, and whatever name you can think of.
I don't think calling it a jingle music is racists. what wrong with the word "jungle"
if I call Back Street boys is "city music" does it make me a racists too?
I think racists here is not Lumix, racists here is the one who call Lumix a racist.

Now this has become the dumbest threads in recent memory with RemyMartin's reply. Remy, if you have never been subjected to the term "go back to the jungle" in a racist derogatory way, you will never understand why some posters are calling Lumix racist. Now back to your comment, how are those that call Lumix a racist the real racists?!?!? Please explain that one.

P.S. I would never refer to backstreet boys music as city music. Maybe suburban, recycled teeny-bopper pop, but never city music.

Don't you think "Roxanne" is a good theme song for Terb?:

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night

Roxanne
You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

I loved you since I knew you
I wouldn't talk down to you
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again
It's a bad way

Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

I would like to add that The Police's hit "Every Breath You Take" as the theme song for every Terbite that's ever been over-obsessed over a SP/MPA/SC-dancer.
