Any predictions on what this upcoming weekend is going to look like, in terms of protests?

Violent riot or sleepy obedient marchers?

I'd absolutely LOVE it if the protesters completely boycotted Toronto and Muskoka and instead peacefully picketed Ottawa!

Would turn the tables on the massive over response to the threat of protests and show how wasteful and self serving governments are.

It would certainly be more newsworthy than a bunch of dickwads throwing molotov cocktails at fences and flipping over cars.
Last batch of protesters up here blew up a bank! And they apparently had further plans - http://news.globaltv.com/sports/Ott...just+beginning+police+fear/3172077/story.html

That would do far more damage to the Conservatives than anything the protesters are likely to do.

Can you imagine? Protests organized for Ottawa instead of Toronto and completely sidestep the billion dollars worth of security??

That would be hilarious.

It's going to be an insane asylum.

Anarchsts, leftists, yahoos, kids out for a laugh - none of whom work for a living, or pay taxes.

I was actually thinking about heading down to watch the spectacle unfold.

I hope they bolster the security in the core. Seems to be made up of rent-a-cops and unarmed auxiliary officers. Only saw a few armed RCMP constables at lunch.

There are a LOT of extra police roaming around the area where the security fence is. I counted 35-40 at one intersection this morning.

If only all Terb Members and T.O SPs show up, it would be one big orgy party.

I suspect the security folks are actually a little more competent than you might think. I am sure that part of that billion dollars is being spent towards that very possibility...

I am all for peaceful protests but there will likely be some social misfit troublemakers who think this is a ticket to loot stores, assault cops, blow up banks etc.
I would give the cops plenty of leeway in dealing with and arresting these assholes and there should be zero tolerance for any bullshit.

I'd lean towards the usual - some violence and mayhem. A few riots, destruction of property, random looting, cases of police brutality, injuries and a few deaths. That is the usual trend of G20 protests.

I was wandering around aimlessly (again) downtown to-day. Toronto will be the safest place on the planet, this coming Friday and weekend. BTW Gay Pride Parade on Sunday. Bring your water pistol.

Loud and ineffective, with a 2.7% troublemaker factor.

They can protest, and you know they'll end up trashing stuff...but the bottom line is..."no one will be listening".

If everyone kept to themselves and minded there own business, they wouldn't have to spend all this money on security. Besides I bet you alot of the protestors aren't even from the GTA, just "shit-disturbers".

There's lots of home-grown welfare bums who think that they will get their welfare cheques bumped up if they scream for more of your money loud enough.
Some of these folks are simply down on their luck but many are parasites who add no value to society and would rather live on handouts.

Here are a couple of news items:

1) 12 police uniforms stolen from a dry cleaner and are still missing:mad:.
2) The floor plan of the Deerhurst hotel is on the web (unless they took it off after I told them).

Why not start things off with a gas station / convenience store (never know when you might need munchies).

Toronto Star this morning:

"They were the first out of the gate, the first to occupy an Esso, and the first to disperse. Welcome to protesting G20-style.

About 100 protesters briefly occupied an Esso gas station and convenience store at Dundas and Jarvis Sts. Monday afternoon in the first major protest of the G20 summit

You missed the point--if after the government spends a billion dollars on security the protests simply don't materialize that's going to result in some uncomfortable questions about irresponsible spending that would do far more damage to the government than any actual protest ever would.

Don't worry though the protesters aren't that smart and won't be able to help themselves from putting on a show that will help justify the wasted money.
