When you leave a message for an SP, tell her how and when she can contact you. Otherwise, she will contact you when she can. If she is busy, it might be a few hours before she can check her messages and respond. She does have a life and other clients.

I do not text or call back if a certain amount of time has elapsed. However, there have been times when I didn't respond (because of the time lapse) and the guy got pissed off at me. "Why didn't you text back?" "Why didn't you call back?" Even when I explained my reason, the guy still seemed annoyed. So it seems like we can't win. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

RE: Nicole King's Reply,

I agree. Yes. I would not get back to someone after more than a day or two as on weekends I am having personal time. I would get back to someone the next day or two because sometimes emails land in my junk for some odd reason OR I am not consulting my text messages for various reasons as we ladies do have our own personal lives. I do not like my reputation to be soiled by someone reporting that I did not get back to them.
If a gentleman sends me a request, he has to know that I may respond and not always immediately. Sometimes ladies CAN respond immediately if the timing is right.

The last thing a reputable lady wants to do is infringe upon your personal life.

This situation has happen to me many times where the guy has gotten mad because we didn't call back. The good thing that we don't accept Text messages. It would be a nightmare trying to keep track of who message, when they message and if its safe to message them back.

I appreciate your point of view and understand that to be completely safe from this, it is best to provide details of when a response is appropriate. But a text two weeks later?!? Come on...and that text was not a response...it was to let me know her availability for this week. Not cool...I nearly shit my pants when I saw that message as I was at a family function.
Now that is totally uncool and very unprofessional. I don't think anyone should be texting their availability to anyone unless it was requested. I would have also shit my pants if I was in your shoes. No matter what the best defense is your defense. Take steps to protect yourself.

Thanks

Nicole
