Have travelled twice with Air Canada. (It's at par with Air India when it comes to service and attitude of the staff). - Air India is at bottom of the pit when it comes to plane cleanliness / overall flight experience.

Having travelled in nearly all the major airlines, my top 3 would be:

Qatar Airways - (Once I was travelling with Qatar Airways to Finland - There were only 7 passengers and same number of stewards/stewardess in the entire 787). Hospitality in their Qsuites is exemplary.
Emirates - If you're flying economy, their hospitality/service depends on the sector being travelled.
Etihad - Value for money with decent services.

Just bring a phone or tablet with you so you can load whatever you like: games, movies, music, etc. You can rent and buy movies from Google Play and Apple. You can also download videos from Netflix, Disney+, etc. The inflight systems are buggy, have limited selection, and you have to learn a new interface on each airlines. I also don't won't to think about how many people have touched that screen even if they supposedly clean them.

AC has a shortage of FAs. The hot young ones who are professional get hired by Qatar, Singapore, and other better airlines because they pay more and offer better travel destinations and better benefits. AC is shit no one even wants to work for them. I know this because a friend of mine went to a job fair at Pearson when all these airlines were hiring. She got a job with Singapore Airlines and turned down AC (Air Crack as they call it).

I was on United(business class) recently travelling from YYZ to ORD to HNL and back. All flights left on time, food was good, luggage arrived undamaged so can't really complain about United for that trip.

For overseas flights I've only used AC once because I had to match up my schedule to someone else's. I've always found AC overpriced (& a bit arrogant) compared to other airlines like United, Delta, British Airways, Lufthansa and a couple of others.

This is excellent advice. Especially on longer flights, I bring my tablet pre-loaded with movies or TV shows I have downloaded and watch them. I also bring my noise canceling over ear headset, so it deadens the engine noise and also blocks out most passenger noise, especially from children. An added benefit is the staff don't cut in constantly with their turbulence/fasten seatbelt messages over and over again in 2-4 different languages. I wear my seatbelt the entire flight, except when I need to visit the bathroom, so I don't need my entertainment interrupted constantly so they can ask me to do something I automatically do, without exception.

I remove my headset and pause my viewing when I see the food and or drinks being served.

Flew Premium Economy in the summer with AC - screen not working - complained and got $300. Flew with AC last Christmas in Business Class and they had only had fish left (choice was beef or fish) and asked me "do you want fish or beef but we only have fish!"...they only had fish because AC staff were getting free flights (they were crew not on shift and all seemed to know each other by the conversations I heard) and sat near me and got offered their choice of food before me (a full fare $6k paying customer) and got the last of the beef. Complained and got $100. The stewardesses seem to either be old, ugly and/or fat (like on American Airlines) and have entitled attitudes.

It's the union. They know they're protected, so no need to be polite. They will never lose their jobs. Unions protect shitty workers.

I know it's expensive, but once I pass security and customs I always stop at the shops and stock up on snacks. Depending on my flight time I'll pig out at an off site restaurant.

I've found rude flight attendants in many companies. Back in the day they were very pretty. I like Lufthansa always on time.

I found other Air line cost more to depart from Toronto.

The only reason I have to fly with AC is because of my points. And the destinations they offer is the only air line that travels directly to where I want to go. Or else I would be connecting quiet a few times. Bad experiences for me and I did it a few times trying to save money from Buffalo.

I was just listening to the radio in my car yesterday when the dj's were commenting on the fact that Air Canada was voted the best airline in North America four years running. And second best in the world or something highly suspicious. Then followed the sarcastic comments. Somebody mentioned one of the Harry Potter actors said Air Canada was the worst. Have to agree about the matronly stewardesses. The only time I thought I stood a chance with an airline stewardess was on a West Jet (I think it was) flight to Cuba. A very sexy brunette French Canadian girl was getting pissed at all the customers buying little stuffed animals souvenirs. Beavers. And making double entendres at her. She said "I'm glad you think it's so funny".
I wasn't bugging her. We made eye contact in a favorable way and she seemed to spend a lot of time pushing something into the overhead compartment just above my head. She was wearing a tight dark blue mini skirt and a clean white blouse which seemed to be about to pop out of her waist band. She was pushing her crotch and belly basically into the side of my face. I didn't complain.
When we disembarked she was in the flight crew line up at customs and I was in my prole line up. I tried to chat her up and she was friendly enough. I asked her where she was based out of and she was living in Vancouver, as was I. I mentioned we should exchange phone numbers. She didn't seem disgusted. But it was too public to really pursue.
That's my Air Canada Story non sequitur,
