Absolutely. This was a bunch of billionaires trying to secure a free flow of cash their way. Their greed is their addiction. Fuck all of them.
I wonder if the remaining clubs and participants are now in talks with their lawyers putting together a case to make the English clubs pay for breach of contract.
I also have to say that the oil clubs like Man City, Chelsea and PSG had the most to lose and the least to gain from this super league idea. They like things the way they are now being able to outspend everyone and wouldn’t be enthused with the idea of other clubs being able to join the mass spending party. I dont believe their moral high ground posturing for a second and Pep suddenly talking about “competitiveness” when he spends £200 million on new defenders every transfer window.
For a guy whose English soccer experience consists of seeing Liverpool FC once when he was 15 years old, what was the financial advantage of skipping to a franchise based league for the 12 rogue teams?
They would be in a closed league where they could not be relegated from. Hence the income would be predictable forever. They could also put a lid on players salaries, by creating some form of averaging by for example letting the weakest teams get the best players.(similar to the draft system in the American NFL system which the Super League is modelled upon)
Again, predictability of profits.

That was the reason for the creation of a Super League, the Sheikdoms and the FSB has skewed the transfer market. Even rich clubs cannot compete.
PSG and Bayern were against the idea, almost for the same reason. PSG are owned by the Sheikh of Qatar while Bayern has just about locked up the region of Bavaria, gifting them the most affluent socio. That's the hypocrisy of the Bundesliga, no other club can compete with Bavarian money and no other club from Bavaria gets beyond relegation zone. The sale of Robert Lewandowski from Dortmund, they could no longer afford him, to Bayern is the prime example.
Then there's the poaching tactic, let a prospective club do all the work then come in with a much bigger offer. That's what Andrea Agnelli fears, Fabio Paratici (Juve transfer director) will set up the sale of Manuel Locatelli only to have Pep break the bank and steal him away. It happened to Roma for Walace, a deal had been set only for Barcelona to pay out $64 million to Gremio to steal him away. He turned out to be a dud and is currently playing for Udinese, not sure if Barca are still paying his wages.
