Let's not pile on, Genie was injured. I was surprised that she got in a few aces with an abdominal tear, but the injury took it's toll. A healthy Genie would have broke the Chinese's serve a dozen times.
.
Not the Bouchard of 2015. The injury was probably a factor the last couple of tournaments but she's been getting eliminated early all year. Noticed in the first three months of 2015 her tennis was way off, but she showed up to each tournament with her make-up and hair professionally done. The focus has veered way to much in the direction of the cash-in rather than pressure of defending all those Tour points and dealing with the physical after-effects of a year where she went deep into tournaments for the first time.

I knew her game has some shortcomings (like just about everyone else) but I really thought she had a better head on her shoulders.

Vasek Pospisil must have gotten tired of Bouchard and Raonic hogging the spotlight, he has reached the Wimbledon Quarterfinals. And he did it by coming back from two sets down - BRAVO!

I believe that his reward will be Roger Federer in the quarters.

Is Genie due for a turnaround?

She's put some hot sauce on her poutine lately. Jimmy Connors is now her coach and she's teaming up with the genial Nick Kyrgios for mixed doubles. Raonic also advanced out of the first round, for the time being, all is well.

Just a Jimmy Connors returns to tend to his client, he gets a WTF moment.

It's not too hard to figure what happened, she was dehydrated. After her grueling match against Cibulkova she played mixed doubles with the genial Nick Kyrgios. After which she fell in the locker room and hit her head. Btw her match against Cibulkova may have ended sooner if Connors had been around. He can fix her confidence crisis since he never had time for them as a player. Whenever he would go down a few games he would unleash a torrent of profanity and come back stronger.

She might have been doing some stand up doggie the way they were carrying on, and she hit her head on the wall.

It looks like.

Knowing how protective Greeks are of their women, if Kyrgios was in the vicinity he would have taken the impact. So I'm not buying the premise that they were banging.

I have a hunch that this was a perfect storm scenario: dehydration and that time of the month. Genie passed out then fell and hit her head...elementary my dear Rocco, elementary.

The two Italian women finalist weren't ranked very highly. Wonder if Genie could have made the finals if she hadn't hurt herself?

Genie crashed out of the US Open in the first round. It does not look good for her future with tennis, imo. She keeps sliding down from the rankings. Genie's today remind me of Michelle Wie of golf.
