Manchester City beat Arsenal 3-0. Aston Villa and Sheffield United played a goalless draw. This was a controversial game as a goal scored by Sheffield United was not spotted by the Referee or his Assistant.

However, this was very interesting. All the teams took to a knee and wore their team shirts with the inscription "Black Lives Matter" on the back of their shirts:

Not just the players. Everyone including the match officials joined in, in both games.

Political correctness runs amok. Black lives seems to matter only when the perpetrator is white and/or a cop. When thousands of blacks are being slaughtered by other blacks, then black lives dont matter. 24 children are murdered each year in just Chicago by other blacks. No demonstrations. Protests. Just silence. A 14-year old boy was kidnapped on his way to school by black hoodlums in Toronto because his stepbrother had disappeared with drug money. No demonstrations. Yet demonstrations in Toronto and other Canadian cities for the murder of George Floyd in the United States! Unbelievable, really.
Take it to the politics forum.

You couldnt have missed picture of players in BLM shirts and other related comments in this thread?
A picture is not a rant, spewing political opinion that has nothing to do with sport and feeling good that some things are returning to normal.

BLM is a neverending rant spewing political opinion that has nothing to do with sport. The premier league is opening themselves up to this by forcing players to kneel and wear the shirts whether they want to or not. Just last year they refused to let players wear poppies for Remembrance Day, and also reprimanded Pep Guardiola for wearing something promoting Catalan independence.

I think that you are confusing the EPL with FIFA. The EPL has never had a ban on the wearing of poppies. In fact they were fined by FIFA for doing so. That was reversed after it generated an outcry, and rightfully so. Well now pep Guardiola's decision is a very politically charged matter. Would you be okay if there were Irish Catholic players wearing similar emblems for the reunification of Ireland? BLM is all about the very basic rights of Blacks and there is a very high proportion of Blacks that participate in the EPL.

Which is what I said. The topic is the EPL opening up. It is a sport and this is the sports forum The political rant above belongs in the politics section.

The EPL is opening up alright, it's spreading its legs wide.

It's looks like the sale of Newcastle United to a Saudi Group is imminent. If it goes through, they will be able to buy three full set of starters. It doesn't bother the Geordies that it is a state that sponsors terrorism and butchers reporters. Perhaps I shouldn't complain, the deal for Inter Milan is just as bad. Although their revenue stream could be severely limited over time. Suning is heavily invested in The Belt and Road Initiative. It looks like Italy will turn it's back on it, due to its strategic location it could be a major blow to the PRC.

Anyway good luck to Newcastle United.

Dont be so naive, it’s about a lot more than that.

What happens now if a white player refuses to kneel? does he have his contract terminated? Will there be a media hate campaign against him branding him as a racist, Will there be threats sent to his house and his family and protests outside? Will he become the white Colin Kaepernick, because now not kneeling is the new kneeling.

Its also convenient they decided to start doing this with no fans in the stadium to voice their disapproval of approval

This thread needs some repairs, first is the title should be Liverpool's march to the title has resumed, and can the crazy old white right wing conservative men take their rants to the proper form.

When I posted out your false statement about the EPL that you confused with FIFA, obviously you cannot accept the real facts!! All the football players opted to take a knee in solidarity with the BLM. This has nothing to do with politics but all to do with basic human rights. A large proportion of these footballers are Black. They want to kneel in solidarity with their teams mates. If you think that the EPL does not have a history of racist remarks and threats on these Black players plus families by opposition racist supporters over the years, then you are sadly out of touch. Can you not comprehend this basic fact?

Are you saying that Kaepernick's firing was justified, because the NFL was in line with the USA's President's desires?

All the jerseys have "Black Lives Matter" printed at the back whether a player agrees or not. So this blatant political statement being stuffed in our faces and backs of players is not worth commenting on? Okay, so enjoy your cup of tea. Cheers
Again, nothing to do with Politics and all to do with the basic human rights. Over the years we have seen numerous incidents of racism in the Football Stadiums. Enough is enough!!
