Fuck it! Lets just stay home for ever, its good for the planet.
Won't happen & no one wants that. Though something should be done to reduce road fatalities, flu deaths, etc.

No doubt after this crisis is over many will choose to work from home, instead, abstain from travel plans, including going to bars, restaurants, theaters, ball games, etc.

I understand. You are a good person and want to end the "bad" in this world. Pure like a child.

Covid killed Elizabeth Warren's brother and infected Doug Ford's Mother-in-Law. Covid is coming to a family near you, it might even be your own family soon.

It is too early to judge them one way or the other.
It will take time to compare apples to apples.
Sweden, Denmark and Norway were all at the same point within days of one another Sweden had 1 confirmed case on February 25th and February 27th the first case was in Denmark and Norway.
In comparison almost a month later on March 23rd the following was these countries numbers

March 23
-----------------------Confirmed Cases------------------Total Deaths---------------------------------Death Rate----
Sweden-------------2046---------------------------------27----------------------------------------------1.3%
Denmark------------1460---------------------------------24---------------------------------------------1.6%
Norway--------------2625---------------------------------10---------------------------------------------0.4%

Fast forward to today where their numbers are as follows:

April 23
-----------------------Confirmed Cases-------------------Total Deaths---------------------------------Death Rate----
Sweden-------------16755--------------------------------2021-------------------------------------------12.1%
Denmark------------8073---------------------------------394---------------------------------------------4.9%
Norway-------------7361----------------------------------193---------------------------------------------2.6%

It's really not that difficult for the vast majority to come to an educated guess that keeping business as usual is not as affective as shutting down non essential businesses. The unfounded argument that somehow the countries who practice strict measures such as isolation/quarantines will have a higher number of confirmed cases and deaths down the road has no evidence and there is evidence which suggests with strict tracing prior to opening up businesses as well as strict health measures and the gradual opening of businesses it can curb the future mass outbreak of the virus.

So this idea that it's too early to figure out which method is the proper way to combat the Coronovirus and the numbers in those countires that practiced quarantines will magically go up is unfounded.

Who knows? The second wave of this virus could be more deadly by far than the first, as it was with the Spanish Flu.

As for the history books, they should note the much larger percentage that may have died without shutdown measures.

And re the economy, no one has a crystal ball that can see into the future.
Re the economy When your biggest export & GDP was being traded at a negative value, Stats Canada can't even begin to calculate the job losses for April, the governments issuing bonds & then buying them back & printing money like it's going out of style & every major financial institution or business publication is saying this is not going to end well...give your fukkin head a shake bud no crystal ball or degree in economics needed!

Yeah he was the ripe old age of 86 & Dougie's ma in law is 95 in an infested nursing home, who would have thought something could happen to them  . You think in the months that everyone seen this coming some stringent measures would have been put in place for ltc homes, we did have our first case & death in one a few months ago right?

Earlier this month, Pat McHenry of Sarnia, Ontario took his 4-lb. dog, Molly, into the deserted parking lot of his apartment building so that Molly could relieve herself. So you can imagine how shocked and outraged Pat felt when he ascended the staircase with Molly only to discover that a pair of Sarnia Police officers were standing outside his apartment unit’s front door with a $880 COVID-19 safety violation ticket.

Yes, "FUCK TRUMP" is about as much of a statement that can be expected from TERB Liberal stooges, on any topic.

It has nothing to do with intellect, it is simple math or what some like to say "believe in science". If the number of infected people that is used to calculate the mortality rate is much smaller than the actual number of infected people, then the mortality percentage is not correct !

How can anyone disagree with that statement???

And again, yes "FUCK TRUMP" . Dimwit.
Listen to yourself and then ask yourself who the dimwit is. Why don't you also go lick a handrail at a COVID Clinic since the mortality rate is so low.

You do realize that the people who test positive are told to go home and self quarantine.

simple math 10 000 tested positive and 1000 die, that is 10% mortality rate.

But there are at least 100 000 who have it but were not tested and 1000 people die, mortality rate is 1%

I know its hard to understand if you can't blame Trump for something so lets say it is Trump's fault.

And instead of licking a handrail, why don't you go and help and elderly person in your building or on your street and go get grocery's for them ?

And the vast majority of those that have died live in LTCHs, over 80 years old and have a pre existing medical condition. Once they have tested enough of the population the scientists, researchers and economists will say that there was no reason to recreate the Great Depression of 1929 to save a small number of lives based on the size of the global population

And you are only using a factor of 10.
There are anti-body studies that are showing the infection rate could be 50+ times more.

Current case-fatality rates are totally useless, especially if one is comparing countries that have tested a different percentage of the population.
And are the tests random and diverse, or are they focused on those who are most likely to be sick, as is the case in Ontario.
This is why our daily new infections is not going down. It will be a long time before there is a shortage of people who are likely to be sick.

It is like having an election poll that is not random and diverse.
If you focus on a Liberal stronghold or a Tory one, the results are totally useless.

If things go well in the battle vs COVID-19 (such as this thing practically blowing away in a few weeks or months), then i can see a possible future where "economic recovery" is fast and doesn't take years. I can see some businesses losing their appeal to customers while others blossom. Protective products (e.g. masks, shields) makers, Amazon & Netflix, just to name a few examples, are booming & should continue to do so.

"Mega investor Bill Ackman, who hit headlines around the world when he made a whopping $2.6 billion in March betting the stock market would tank due to the coronavirus, is betting that the economy will recover quickly once the crisis ends."

Ontario takes 'extraordinary step' to give police list of all COVID-19 patients

TORONTO -- A civil liberties group is raising concerns after the Ontario government took the "extraordinary step" to release a database to police with a list of everyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the province.

On April 6, the province announced they would provide first responders with the names, date of birth and address of all patients who tested positive for the virus.

"First responders put their lives on the line every day to protect Ontarians and they are at great risk of being directly exposed to COVID-19 as they fulfill their frontline duties,” the province said in a news release earlier this month.

“We must do everything in our power to ensure the health and well-being of those working on the frontlines and provide them with the tools they need to do their jobs and keep Ontarians safe."

According to the government, patient data has been shared with police, firefighters and paramedics across the province.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) told CTV News Toronto on Friday the province needs to be "extremely clear" on how the personal information is being used during the pandemic.

“Last week, we started to see the first indications that police had actually been given access to this information but we don’t know exactly how it is working,” Abby Deshma, the director of the criminal justice program at CCLA, said.

“Sharing personal health information with first responders is an extraordinary step. It needs to be extremely clear what the use for the information is, why it’s necessary and how this is legal.”

"Based on what we know about Ontario's testing, the information that police officers are going to get is going to be incomplete, because testing is limited and perhaps out of date."

"It's hard for us to see how police will use this information to protect themselves or the public."

Deshma said Ontarians should get clear answers on how exactly the information is being used.

"Most people would be very surprised this information is being shared with police," she said. "Usually health information is tightly controlled and disclosed only to health providers. It’s exceptional for health information to be shared with law enforcement."

"We have a bunch of questions. With a lot of this, we are in new territory."

The province said the information will be inaccessible to first responders once the declaration of emergency is over.

CTV News Toronto contacted the Ministry of Health on Friday for further comment but has not yet received a response.

The Toronto Police Service said Friday that they have not accessed the database thus far.

"We continue to work with the government on clarification regarding Terms of Use," police spokesperson Meaghan Gray said.

It is not immediately clear exactly which police forces are using the personal data.
