And what would you have a government do? order the world to give us stuff fasterIf this continues for much longer we will have a very serious problem on our hands and much, much sooner than anyone imagines. The fuel prices, the border restrictions and the inflation- not to mention the labor disruptions- are a perfect storm waiting to happen. I wish we had a government.
I thought you felt we were over-regulated and hated rules and laws being enforced like those renegade truckers?I wish we had a government.
How about dropping the border restrictions? How about comple reopening of our economy? How about moving on the inflation? How about giving us a break on the gas prices?(yes, it's possible). How about signaling the end of the adversarial policies against our energy sector? How about easing the access problems to the international markets(and domestic) for the energy sector? How about holding the line on the government expansion and a 10% pay cut for the Civil Service across the board? Aren't we all in this together? All we had in the last two years was the focus on the Natives, Covid-19 and climate. Everything else was abandoned. And what would you have a government do? order the world to give us stuff faster
"Renegade "??? Lol! To whom do they break their loyalty? Governments set tone and policy, like the monetary policy- something Justin admitted he knows zero about.I thought you felt we were over-regulated and hated rules and laws being enforced like those renegade truckers?
Drop the border restrictions,, ok so just let anyone in, we can't go anywhere cause everyone else has restrictions. Inflation is world wide, gas is up world wide, maybe you want to drop wages on the oil workers or give the government less money, that always improves things, Our government didn't cause access to the gas lines,, try provincial or native rights, a pay cut to civil services ? did you take a pay cut?? It always amazes me how everyone has the answer...How about dropping the border restrictions? How about comple reopening of our economy? How about moving on the inflation? Exactly, we have no government that offers any leadership and everything is impossible. And it will not get better as long as Canadians are satisfied with the ineptitude. Warning! Ineptitude works just fine in the normal times. It will destroy us in today's environment.Drop the border restrictions,, ok so just let anyone in, we can't go anywhere cause everyone else has restrictions. It is true inflation is a worldwide problem right now it's just that some are managing it a lot better than others. If my memory serves me right we are one of the worst affected among developed countries and that is something you blame on the government, no way around it. As far as gas goes they could suspend, at least temporarily, carbon tax. They could freeze tax hikes (but they really can't can they after throwing ~500 billion in the wind). As for civil servants they could get rid of many of them starting with the Minister of Middle Class Prosperity. Trudy just announced appointment of Special Representative to combat islamophobia, why do we need it, what is he going to do (get paid that's for sure but other than that not much will come of it)? They could spend less money on needless virtue signaling causes (like that islamophobia position). They could reopen the place, let people spend their money and enjoy life, start new business etc. Have you been following hockey lately, it's depressing as fuck to see packed arenas in states and empty ones in Canada. Why is that the case, do we have different DNA than those south of the border or across the ocean on that Island called Britain where most people here today originally came from? Is it the border or the ocean crossing which changes us and makes less or more (depending on direction) susceptible to catching COVID? Plenty of things the government could have done, yes we would still have inflation and all the related problems but the extent of it would not be as profound.Drop the border restrictions,, ok so just let anyone in, we can't go anywhere cause everyone else has restrictions. Irrational vs. rational fear.Funny that the people who accuse the vaccinated of being motivated by fear are trying to stoke fear over having a little less choice at their grocery store.
An honest comparison would be the risk of death from C19 vs the risk of death from starvation due to inflation.Irrational vs. rational fear.
My chance of dying from/with ("with" is really important here!) COVID according to data as of Jan 28: (533 (all time deaths in my age bracket) / 2916180 (total confirmed!!! infected as of Jan 28)) * 100 = 0.02% (I'll even take it at x20 for 0.4%)
My chance of paying more for gas, milk, butter, car, house ... really everything is 100%
It is quite shitty to find yourself in a situation where you overpay for everything because of a group of people who lost touch with reality, forgot how to count and couldn't even look at their neighbour who was doing things right. It's like being stuck in an elevator with somebody who shit his pants. It stinks and there's no way out.
I am not seeing it. Aside from one store that had issues pre covid. Every other store has been stocked up every time....are growing.
Regardless of your opinion about ANYTHING, this is truly going to at some point cause a serious panic attack amongst the population if it goes much further.
Should we throw my chance of dying in a car accident to the mix just for the fun of it?An honest comparison would be the risk of death from C19 vs the risk of death from starvation due to inflation.
That would be a more apt comparison.Should we throw my chance of dying in a car accident to the mix just for the fun of it?
Well, I assume you are another wildly inaccurate assumer.I am not seeing it. Aside from one store that had issues pre covid. Every other store has been stocked up every time.
People who want to bring fear have to resort to old photos and often from other countries or closeups of a particular section because fuck truth as long as you further your agenda.
Nor should there be much of a problem, something like 90% of truckers are vaccinated and there has been no noticeable reduction in cross border traffic and we seem to be over the hump in terms of new infections.
I am assuming you are one of those anti mandate anti vaccine types who will flat out lie as they have been doing from the beginning.
What was the expiry date on the toilet paper?Well, I assume you are another wildly inaccurate assumer.
Where I live yesterday in a major store there was an unusually large number of empty shelves. A tremendous number of fruit and vegetables were flat out unavailable.
I am actually not making any comment on COVID, I am just saying that if the public gets a real scare about food supply they WILL panic.
We saw idiots with double trolleys full of toilet paper back in 2020 based pretty much on nothing, so food will be another order of magnitude.
Nobody ever explained why the rush on toilet paper at the initial outbreak. Still don't know why.Well, I assume you are another wildly inaccurate assumer.

Word of mouth. As soon as people learn that there's a supply problem, they rush out to buy extra, thus exacerbating the problem.Nobody ever explained why the rush on toilet paper at the initial outbreak. Still don't know why.
I think it started in Australia, I heard reports the panic buying spreading here. I figured I better get mine first.Nobody ever explained why the rush on toilet paper at the initial outbreak. Still don't know why.
