Do you think the first smartphone would exist without the first cell phone existing (1973)?The first personal computers were developed in the 70s.
The first smartphones in the 90s.
The first social media, in the early 2000s.
The first search engines in the 90s.
On the other hand:
The very first EVs rolled out in the 1800s.
The first resuable space vehicles were developed in the 70s.
So which product(s) have been in the market longer?
Elon took something preexisting for decades and has still not accomplished a smidge of what Gates, Jobs and Zuckerberg have done.
As I said already, nice mental gymnastics.
You should start your own Olympic team for the sport.
It is understood technology leverages already existing technology to improve upon and innovate.Do you think the first smartphone would exist without the first cell phone existing (1973)?
First social network was Six Degrees...1997.
Get your facts straight so you don't keep looking ignorant.
You think Musk took what was invented in the 1800's and simply marketed that for consumer purchases of EVs today?
Same with reusable space vehicles...he just took what they had and copied it exactly and then had rockets land themselves?
Every product and services that is around today existed before.
You sound desperate.
Gates and Jobs both dropped out of university if that is your measure. It is understood technology leverages already existing technology to improve upon and innovate.
I gave Elon credit for landing boosters.
But his con is two fold.
One that he changed lives. He has not.
Our lives will be no different without Tesla or SpaceX today.
You cannot hide behind technology maturity on this.
Tech development is exponential and his companies have been around for 2 decades making no significant impact on our lives.
The second is that he is the product architect, designer or engineer behind these innovations (if any).
He is not.
He does not even have a degree in engineering.
Yes but they dont claim to be engineers or architects of their products.Gates and Jobs both dropped out of university if that is your measure.
Musk holds 2 degrees if it matters that much to you.
Not sure why you are trying to bend whatever argument you are trying to make but no one said Gates and Jobs were not intelligent.Yes but they dont claim to be engineers or architects of their products.
By the way Gates is known through scores of anecdotes (including some of his professors) to be an extremely intelligent person and an incredible programmer.
And he is who people think Elon is.
Except he was not.Not sure why you are trying to bend whatever argument you are trying to make but no one said Gates and Jobs were not intelligent.
But if you want to continue downplaying Musk's accomplishments here's some helpful info for you...
Says the guy who just provides anecdotal info and biased opinions.Except he was not.
Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard were the engineers.
He was merely an investor.
He just named himself "Product Architect".
Overseeing a company and actually engineering a product are very different endeavours.
A couple of articles by Elon stans does not change this truth.
So keep doing your double backflip. But you wont change the truth.
Oh nice double twisting double backflip.Says the guy who just provides anecdotal info and biased opinions.
At least I provide something more but it looks like I'm wasting my time trying to convince someone who just doesn't want to be educated.
Every time you respond and I prove you wrong you come back with something new.
Just say you don't like Musk for your own biased reasons without trying to peddle misinformation about him and others. It hasn't worked for you.
How Tesla was formed has nothing to do with what Musk has accomplished with it and other things.Oh nice double twisting double backflip.
I gave you the facts regarding how Tesla was formed, and how Elon came to acquire it.
You gave me an opinion piece.
My info was based on actual facts.
Yours based on opinions.
Everytime you say you prove me wrong, you end up getting caught in your own web of convoluted reasonings.
Like the other thread where I summarily proved you wrong.
And how have his accomplishments changed life as we know it?How Tesla was formed has nothing to do with what Musk has accomplished with it and other things.
Geez how many EVs were available for sale before Tesla? The reusability of the launch vehicles is not the point. Its the economics of launching. The space shuttle was one of the most expensive ways in history to launch a payload. SpaceX has utterly revolutionized the cost of space launches, If you tell me Mandrill was part of the Neuralink pilot, I would say it explains a lot.No nuances.
Straight up facts.
- EVs have always existed and the first vehicles in 1895 were electric. EVs are still unafforable, are a minority of the market and Teslas are badly constructed vehicles.
- Reusuable launch vehicles have been around for over 50 years. I will give him credit for landing boosters back though.
- Neuralink has killed 100s of primates it was tested on. The 1 human it was tested on has not been heard from since. BCI technology research has existed since the 60s.
- Boring Company is a failed endeavour.
- Musk did not co-found Paypal.
There you go.
Nothing much there to put him in the league of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg.
So you are saying he made Tesla a minor competitor to the big 3.Geez how many EVs were available for sale before Tesla? The reusability of the launch vehicles is not the point. Its the economics of launching. The space shuttle was one of the most expensive ways in history to launch a payload. SpaceX has utterly revolutionized the cost of space launches, If you tell me Mandrill was part of the Neuralink pilot, I would say it explains a lot.![]()
he is much worse than thatThat’s because Trudeau is in insufferable tool
So you are finally turning on Trudeau after a decade of cheerleading for himGeez how many EVs were available for sale before Tesla? The reusability of the launch vehicles is not the point. Its the economics of launching. The space shuttle was one of the most expensive ways in history to launch a payload. SpaceX has utterly revolutionized the cost of space launches, If you tell me Mandrill was part of the Neuralink pilot, I would say it explains a lot.I would say that Trudeaus charactization of Kamalas defeat as a setback for women was idiotic. She was a bad candidate, a lousy campaigner and an affirmative action disaster
unfortunately Trudeau will never be held accountable for what he has done to Canadahe is much worse than that
Canadians will pay a vey steep price for selecting a fool to be our leader because..... he had a famous last name ???
in 9 short years he has taken the very best country in the world and turned it into a shit show
the worse part is Trudeaus stupidity and irresponsible mis-management will haunt Canada for generations
get ready to have your standard of living decline ... further
His "crimes" will be forgotten as soon as the next PM fucks up.unfortunately Trudeau will never be held accountable for what he has done to Canada
he should go to jail for his shenanigans
very trueHis "crimes" will be forgotten as soon as the next PM fucks up.
Its a revolving door of fuck ups tbh.
UK has been a shit show for a few years nowIt’s a cycle you’re currently seeing play out in the UK.
India may have a lower cost but they are not really commercially available on a large scale. Space X is acknowledged to be the lowest cost. YOu have to include insurance is the cost so reliability is a huge factor. Space shuttle was $54K per KG, Falcon heavy is $2.3K per KG, Goal for Starship is $0.01K per kg.So you are saying he made Tesla a minor competitor to the big 3.
Yes it is a successful business.
But did it change lives?
No.
Same with the economics of launching.
The Indian space agency does it, at or below cost of SpaceX.
When they get reusable vehicles, or a heavy lift vehicle, it will get even cheaper for them.
