You seem to be missing my point. The people who put him in office are nothing at all like him. They are much better and I give them much more credit. perhaps too much because as you say they put him in office. To him they are just sheep to be fleeced. Look at the many millions of dollars he grifted from them for legal fees which were then paid by the RNC. Look at all the money he has paid from these funds to his properties.
Pence has deluded hopes of becoming President and thereafter doing God's Will for America. He's a silly, silly man.
The GOP perceives Trump as something like a large, dead moose carcass blocking the highway to victory that has to be rammed out of the way.

I don't know, Trump's speech was pretty convincing. He told us that there were no wars in the decades he was President. That's a great achievement.
