Before I discovered review boards, learned hobbying etiquette...etc, I would pull donation out of wallet , count in front of SP and hand it to her.

I very rarely pay before session start, pretty much leave donation in white envelope on bed/table as I am getting dressed.

Its a general rule everywhere I go (numerous different countries) that you never pay first.

Seems to me like you are possibly wasting away a potentially very lucrative sales career outside of the bedroom!

I`ve always put the donation in an envelope and then jumped into the shower (i.e. I was not in the room when the SP counts the money). But it seems like some guys do wait until the SP counts the money before doing the deed.

Yes, but I should preface that it was in San Jose, Costa Rica last night. $180 goes a long way for these little tarts. And yes, if you are ever asked for money at the beginning of the night, my advice to you is to walk as it is a sign of a bad performance to come. That is pretty standard mongering procedure around here when dealing with an independent. Obviously in organized sex establishments you pay first (no choice).

Costa Rica, Okay, good point. If I'm ever in San Jose, I will hold off paying until the very end. In Toronto, Canada, and during the first meeting, I think its best to pay before you play. Its only fair...

Wow. I'm glad most of the girls I see do not share this disdain for the people that use their services and pay their salary. Your sentiments, if expressed in the other direction, I'm sure would provoke outrage from most sps. WRT the donation, the girl can trust me 100%. A few times a girl has almost left w/o collecting, and I reminded them. And once or twice I've forgot. As soon as I realized I had an extra wad of cash in my pocket I immediately returned.

Now as for the op's question. I too fail to see the point of the envelope, as I've posted before. Fact of the matter is, I don't carry a supply of them with me, so I usually don't even have one available when heading to an appt. I try to remember to hand over the $ at the beginning. It breaks the ice, and let's the rest of the session proceed without thought from either of us about the monetary aspect. I dont care one way or another if she counts it i know it is all there. I avoid those situations where I may get scammed, so this is not a consideration for me.

I think this thread has kinda morphed off topic. It started as a simple envelope or cash in a pile question. Let's not turn it into an SP vs Client stereotyping session.

Gypsy, in third world countries where rent is $100 a month, and you believe these girls lies that they're using the money to buy school books, good for you. You're a saint. Pay them after the session. Pay them $15 an hour each. You feel good, the sex was good, everyone's happy. You haven't been in Canada in 10 years by your own admission, so I don't think you really have the expertise to comment on how things are done today, here.

It is not only COMMON and EXPECTED to pay up front, it just makes good sense. I'm not thinking about the money, she's not thinking about the money. We're about to engage in an intimate exchange, there is a certain level of unspoken trust, being clean, being disease free, being safe. Getting the finances out of the way in advance can lower the edge at least a little to a point where a more relaxing shared experience can be had.

On the one hand, when your loving grandmother gives you a cash present for christmas, it's way over the top in bad manners for you to count it.

On the other hand, when you pay cash at canadian tire, it's common sense to count it -- not because you don't trust the guy, but simply to make sure just what amount you're handing over. Nobody ever thinks you're accusing them of not being trust-worthy, when you count the cash in that situation.

You have to make up your mind which one of those situations is the closest match to your hobby encounter.

I'd say any place where you are obviously a rich tourist you have a target on you because they know you might not be around for long so no reason for the repeat visit.
