I agree with that. I didn’t always agree with everything Grapes had to say but he was a “what you see is what you get” kindl of guy.. no apologies. He played and coached in a different era and he had trouble adapting to today’s world where you can’t say anything without being a bigot/racist/homophobe etc. McLean, on the other hand, knows all the right things to say and isn’t afraid to kiss ass to save his job.
But it seems like he's accusing Turgeon of faking the injury. And he didn't play the rest of the playoffs either.
I think Don's mistake was getting too political on the show. I've never been a fan of bringing politics into sport the way LeBron James does. When Cherry talks hockey it's fine even if his opinions are biased. But he blames immigrants for not wearing the poppy when I see plenty of young Canadians are even more ignorant to wearing it and they're taught about it in school were as newcomers don't really know much about our culture. I also believe SN wanted to oust him when they took over HNIC and were just waiting for him to slip up.
