The bubonic plague had a reservoir of rats, it lasted for hundreds of years. It's still around.IIRC the classic case is the bubonic plage, which spread very effectively, but also killed itself out of existence in Europe in only 2 years.

They are being put through yoyo shutdowns because of the pressure from the righties on re-opening has been intense on Dofo. The restaurants restock, re-hire, spend money to reopen to be shut down in the blink of an eye. We should have had a 3-week complete lockdown with massive enforcement but the provincial government hasn't had the political balls to do it. I can't say I blame Doug, unlike the righties who jump over Justin over ridiculous things, I understand Doug is walking a tight rope and it's obvious he's trying to do the best he can so I'll cut him some slack. All of North America and every well-to-do country has run up massive debt due to COVID. Everyone is basically printing money. Restaurants and some other small businesses deserve a helping hand to see if they can make it through the vaccination campaign.I love this thinking . Compensated by whom??? By us? The taxpayers. No, thank you, we have paid too much already.
That's been the problem throughout, both here and the US. No one wants to take the political hit for a real lockdown so they do shitty half measures and ease them up too quickly. They are being put through yoyo shutdowns because of the pressure from the righties on re-opening has been intense on Dofo. It staged comebacks throughout the pre antibiotic era. The "Great Plague of London" in 1665 (?) was one of them. The bubonic plague had a reservoir of rats, it lasted for hundreds of years. It's still around.
When will Tory and Trudeau grow some balls and fire Devilla and Tam?Several Doctors who are on the Health table have appeared on CTV, CBC, and everyone favorite fake news channel CP24 and stated our vacination strategy is incorrect. When will Ford grow some balls and fire Williams?
Why would they do that? Devilla and Tam are doing a great job! Trudeau has no say in how the Province manages lockdowns but you knew that Slim. When will Tory and Trudeau grow some balls and fire Devilla and Tam?
There's actually an argument that marmots may have brought a wave of bubonic plague in the 1200s before the famous outbreak in the 1300s. Some recent research indicating a sizable outbreak that wasn't recorded as such because it was in the more sparsely populated areas and probably acted as the seed for the major outbreak that happens later. There are descriptions of the Siege of Baghdad in the 1250s that seem to have the plague hitting it. You've got contact with the plague-infected marmot area of Mongolia, you've got some major outbreaks. Then a couple of generations later you get the big explosion.IIRC marmots were the cause of the mini outbreak about a year ago. Fucking marmots!
Tam is the more serious issue due to conflict of interestWhen will Tory and Trudeau grow some balls and fire Devilla and Tam?
Based on what evidence?Just stating the obvious. Closing of mass transportation should be number one priority on the list of measures to combat any pandemic.
Toronto hasn't been on hard lockdown since last spring.Toronto has been under hard lock since Nov & never opened up (still grey)
...
More nonsense from TeeJay AKA TeeJay facts.Tam is the more serious issue due to conflict of interest
Devilla is just power hungry and gets seriously pissed when places like Adamson stand up to her
And you also claim vaccines don't work. Hmm.Open up
It is redundantly obvious colour coded lock downs do not do shit
...
Depends on the R0 value of the virus and the efficacy of the vaccines/immunity acquired through infection. The predictions seem to average around 70% but estimates run from mid 50s to mid 80s.I believe that one can achieve herd immunity with far less than 100% vaccination. The virus simply dwindles and fades out if its opportunities to continue to spread are curtailed at even the 70% level.
What's the conflict of interest with Tam?Tam is the more serious issue due to conflict of interest

Covid is seeming to follow the history of other major pandemics. The 1918 flu was most deadly during its second wave.Only one problem. This virus is mutating to be more virulent, not less. The figure of 70% applies to a normal virus which when it mutates becomes less aggressive. This one becomes more aggressive.
Obviously many here will ignore it because its cbc but a pretty clear analysis of how politics has interfered with the public health responseThat's been the problem throughout, both here and the US. Common sense, lots of people in confined small space , touching same parts to steady themselves. If there is a breeding ground for a virus, it's the subway, street car or a bus.Based on what evidence?
But fine, as long as the big box stores and patios stay open.
The food can still be cooked for the bellies of the staff. The restaurants restock, re-hire, spend money to reopen to be shut down in the blink of an eye.
Talking about herpes ???lots of people in confined small space , touching same parts to steady themselves. If there is a breeding ground for a virus
