The C.D.C. concedes that cloth masks do not protect against the virus as effectively as other masks.
The update in guidance comes as coronavirus cases continue to soar.
I believe the article misses a huge point and one that wasn’t stressed enough, that mask wearing should not be viewed as simply for the benefit of the wearer. Wearing one, even cloth, does help reduce the spread to others especially if they too are wearing a mask.
The problem is that antimaskers are so opposed to wearing one even to protect themselves, they would never be supportive of the inconvenience of wearing one to protect others, so that message was rarely delivered.
Masks shouldn’t be worn in the assumption that others have covid, they should be worn under the assumption that the wearer does. If society was unselfish enough to do that, we’d be much farther along in this battle.
If the alternative is 0% protection and you have no choice but to go out in public, then yes anyone would.
No plans to abstain. You can jerk it instead. At least you know dome's are close to 99% effective. Masks are shit on the whole. Most people I see do not even use them properly so what's the point now.

There is no evidence of viral particles being emitted from people except in the form of microdroplets/aerosols and those droplets are large enough to be caught by medical masks. Even phil eventually shut up with those claims after having every single post of his refuted, often by his own sources.
With omicron and being indoors for extended times, it's not very effective. In previous waves or in a well ventilated space, it's still enough to make a difference.
p.s. Like with your condom claim, masks are just one layer in protection. That's why some condoms have spermicide.

So you have N95 masks but you use cloth masks as well.........That's some crazy logic there.

Very simple and logical explanation.
When I go to Costco, I wear an N95.
If I'm walking down the hall to throw a garbage bag down the chute, I wear a simple surgical mask.
One scenario is crowded with an extended time frame and the other is not crowded and only last 73 seconds..
Anti-mask/vaxx types do tend to look at things as either/or, there is no in-between or context if someone disagrees with them.
Masks and vaccines are 0% or 100%, if not 100% then they are worthless. The number of Vaccinated either make up more hospitalized/ICU or they don’t, regardless of population and percentages.
