Experts in this article say the cloth masks are inadequate. Translation-Useless it also depends on what you think inadequate means.

So you agree that your previous statement was pure hyperbole.

You said that they provide NO protection which is hugely different than "do not protect as effectively". I can't read the article so I wonder if it even says "inadequate.

For future, your credibility would be enhanced if you provided accurate statements instead of hyperbole.

Translation-"No protection" means zero protection. Even "inadequate" is more than zero.

There's your English lesson for today. And, you're welcome.

Just click on the article it works for me. Maybe your credibility would be enhanced if you read the article. Wrong, experts in the article say cloth masks are inadequate. The definition states "lacking the quality or quantity required, insufficient for a purpose" I take that as zero protection
Here's Dr Lena Wen that says cloth masks just "Don't cut it"

You can take it that way, but you'd be 100% wrong in your interpretation.

One could properly say that the front line of the Bengals was inadequate to prevent the Rams from getting to Burrow for the whole game. He was harassed more in the 2nd half. But no one can say that they provided NO protection. NO protection would mean that they had unimpeded access to Burrow on every play throughout the game.

Inadequate protection is very different than no protection. By definition, inadequate means that there was SOME, but just not enough.

You just got sacked for a big loss.

BTW, is English your primary language? Just asking.

...

Cloth masks and facsimile surgical masks which the overwhelming of the majority wear achieve next to no positive results. ...
I love the way people keep claiming this despite evidence.

Hazmat suits > N95 > surgical masks > multi-layer cloth masks > single layer cloth masks but all of them have some impact. Single layer cloth masks were rated at around 20% reduction in transmission. That is something and outside where there is ventilation, that combination is effective.

And also funny that anti-maskers keep giving reasons people should be wearing N95s.

Which is something totally different from "no protection".

The issue with omicron is that it replicates in the upper respiratory system meaning that a mask has to handle a higher viral load. I know numbers are confusing but the problem is 20% of a large number is not the same as 20% of a small number.

Have any of you guys actually taken the time to read studies or are you simply relying on headlines you saw retweeted?

Recognizing that cloth masks and surgical masks are useless against covid doesn't make you anti-mask.

Recognizing that the vaccine would have been best to take for the old and sick doesn't make you anti-vaxx.

Recognizing that the vaccine has limited effectiveness and that statistically people under 50 have no problems dealing with Covid using their own immune system doesn't make you anti-vaxx.

Seriously, what evidence can there possibly be for mask mandates when the virus is SMALLER than the openings in the cloth and surgical masks? I've been asking this question for a two years and I'm yet to get an answer.

Go read Phil's thread on masks and see how his arguments are destroyed, with facts and reasoning. It might take you a couple of days but you will get your answers.

Really? They lost the game because of their O-line so they failed, You didn't just get sacked. You got a concussion. You're the one who doesn't understand. Joe Burrow ended up with a sprained MCL because of his inadequate O-line He tore his ACL last year because his O-Line couldn't protect him .Which also gave up the 3rd most sacks in the league. I shouldn't have said zero but I was trying to make a point. They are useless at this point, When there are much better alternatives. Would you wear a cloth mask at this point? Would you wear a condom to see an SP that was Inadequate or would you abstain

I'm not on twitter or any social media. I shouldn't have said zero but 20% is pretty well useless. During a large outbreak would you use a mask that's 20 % effective to go into public?. Would you use a condom that's 20% effective to see an SP or would you abstain?
