Dangerous Freeway Exit Taking

For the love of god people, don't try to take an exit when you're not in a position to safely do so! This is the third day in a row I've seen someone attempt a stupid maneuver so as to not miss their exit.

I've seen cars completely stop on the freeway, or at least significantly slow down, seen them erratically cross the divider with no regard for traffic already in the exit lane, and even seen a quadruple lane change today where the driver almost hit two cars and a guardrail! This is insanely dangerous and can create a massive pile-up. STOP DOING THAT! Is it really such an issue to take the next exit and double back?

People on the highway who drive in the left lane for miles, often holding up numerous cars behind them who would like to pass, then cut across al lanes at the last second to exit.
Mind boggling.

Similar tactic, though not as dangerous as cutting across a few lanes:

People who refuse to get in line for an exit (e.g. 401 eastbound onto the 400) and try to sleaze in somewhere closer to the exit. But then they can't get in and have to slow down or stop to find and opening and in doing so block the next lane to left and immediately cause a backup that can be a km. long. Fucking entitled idiots.

Hence why no one drives on the right lane which is the designated driving lane. Sometimes it's clear when the left lane is not. Left lane is for passing but people like to use rather than the right to avoid those who can't merge properly.

Yep, that's a good one too!

The best is I have seen a lot of people merge onto the highway and then cross over 4-5 lanes just to get into the left lane and then they coast there at 110 - they must go to some special driving school to get taught that - one reason people do that (I have read) is that because the leftmost lane typically does not exit and hence they can just sit there forever like a lazy ass.

We see a lot of asshats on the 407, as well, regardless of who owns/runs it. Nice try at making an irrelevant political slam.
Cannot really compare 407 to the rest of the 400 series hwys because it is no that congested- even at the rush hours. It's also enforced a lot more than the other GTA hwys, I think, due to wide sholders that make pulling speeders safer. I use it pretty much everyday, sometimes its whole length(my company picks up the tab) and, frankly, I dread the time if it goes public. You don't see as many crappy or impatient drivers, mainly because there is so much more room.

How about the jackasses who get in the HOV lane and just putter along barely doing 100km. Legally you can't pass them because of the solid line between the HOV and the left lane.

HOV lane is not a passing lane anyways. It's the guys hogging the lane to the right of the HOV you should complain about.
Folks in the GTA do not adhere to "keep right except when passing" nor does it seem to be an enforced traffic law.

Never said it was a passing lane. But when you are in that lane you should drive at the same speed as traffic flow which is more than 100.

Agreed, but there are still a few asshat drivers even on the 407.

Not a passing lane but use some common sense. If you're driving slower than anyone else then get off the HOV. The HOV was put there for a reason. To encourage high occupancy.

The Hwy.401 has obvious design flaws.
The eastbound express crossover to the collectors just before Kennedy, is way too close to the Kennedy exit.
The Weston Rd 401 eastbound onramp is a disaster...it shares it's lane with the 401 to 400 onramp, causing backups all day.
Then there are the 2-lane bottlenecks at westbound Younge and eastbound at Allen.

Call me naive, but if the drivers only followed the rules, we could lessen the congestion on our streets by a significant amount. And not only drivers. Our intersections are a mess. There are too many drivers who rush intersections and get stuck in the middle, too many changing l anes in the middle of intersections, cutting in and out of ending lanes, etc. And with the new apps, even the "secret" bypasses are becoming intolerable. One bright spot has been the bottom of Jarvis where the city decided to post cops to direct traffic. Much better.
