Brill; Thank-you for the Nina Simone her work is a gift from above, and Fruity and others thanks for all the other great selections.
For whatever private reasons I have now drunk enough and cried enough for one night, time to go to bed or pass-out.

Three of my favorites...

Ferry, McKay and Manzanera make it their own!

Stunningly sweet and thoughtful, Oh and that voice! that voice!

How cool is this? Check out the 'guest vocalist'!

I love Earl-Jean's original version of "I'm Into Something Good".

Bessie Banks's original of the Moody Blues "Go Now" is very soulful.

Gloria Jones' original of "Tainted Love" is fantastic. Did you know she was the driver of the car in Marc Bolan's fatal accident?

The greatest cover of all time is Otis Redding's version of Try A Little Tenderness; Originally done in 1932.

It's a whole new song, completely unlike the original.

Ditto for The Animals cover of House of the Rising Sun.

Of course Hendrix cover of All Along The Watchtower.

Enjoyable covers that aren't original interpretations:

Elvis's cover of Hound Dog

Apocalyta cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters

GnR cover of the Stone's Sympathy for the Devil

Beatles cover of Twist & Shout

Anita Carter's original version of "Ring Of Fire" is beautiful, but I think it's genius for Johnny Cash to add Mexican horns and change the sound completely.

I Like Travis's cover of Britney Spear's Hit me Baby One More Time:

Holly McNarland's Cover of Phil Collins's In the Air Tonight:

William Shatner's Rendition of Rocket Man:

Dorothy Moore's version of Misty Blue, one of my all time favourite songs ever (better than Ella Fitzgerald's version in my opinion):

Sarah Boyle's I Dreamed a Dream:

William Hung:

Celine Dion's Power of Love (though I still think Laura Branigan's version is better):

Shiny Toy Gun's version of Peter Schilling's Major Tom:

Not Really a cover, but I had to throw this one in:

Man, this takes me back, to an innocent time in my life.

Knockin' on Heaven's Door(s)

Lol, I finally figured out how to embed these things! :p

Bob Dylan's classic version:

Ok, I'll admit it - I absolutely LOVE G n' R, and this was one of the best songs they played in their concert back in January:

Warren Zevon covered this after being diagnosed with terminal cancer:

Eric Clapton did a nice, reggae-inspired version as well:

Ok, I'll just say Ontario.
I don't know why, but I like nasty rap songs covered by a completely difference genre artist. Here are two of my favourites -

Snoop's "Gin and Juice" done in blue grass by The Gourdes.

Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit" in the style of Ben Folds Five's cover, now re-covered by DeCadence, a UC Berkley A Cappella group. Is that obtuse enough for you?
