Kyra - You posted a Blondie cover, and I had to follow with another...
Franz Ferdinand - Call Me(Blondie Original)

I have been a fan of Iggy Pop, and Iggy & The Stooges for a long time, so this cover is interesting
Peaches - Search and Destroy(Iggy Pop Original)

In a similar punk vein..from the Ramone's "We're a Happy Family" tribute album,
The Offspring - I Wanna Be Sedated

Last two posts for this reply, same covering artist
Chris Cornell - Billie Jean Unplugged (Michael Jackson Original)

Chris Cornell - Redemption Song(Bob Marley Original)

I do like the version of the song. However, The Sex Pistols had nothing to do with it.
The song was made for dramatic effect and symbolism in the movie Sid and Nancy. Or did Gary Oldman Take Sids place?

:)

That reminds me of when Pat Boone did his album In A Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy, he did all these metal covers in his own style.

Crazy Train
the funny thing here is that Pat Boone is(was) Alice Coopers next door neighbor, so you can see where he got the inspiration hehe

Here's a good site to investigate who did a song originally or who has covered it.
www.secondhandsongs.com

Finding the original is an obsession with me, I have tons of tunes that I've collected over the years.
Speaking of "The Air That I Breathe", I also like Phil Everly's version that predates the Hollies by a few years.

I really like Nina Simone's version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", she did it a year before the Animals had a hit with it, She also did "House Of The Rising Sun" before them, you can tell how she influenced them a great deal.

Wow. I thought I was the only one that had heard of Eva Cassidy . She was an incredible talent and, of course, died way too young. The duet album with Chuck Brown was a masterpiece.
