Mississippi Fred McDowell was unheard of until Alan Lomax started recording him in 1959, he performed his song "You Gotta Move" in 1964.
It was faithfully covered by the Rolling Stones in 1971 on their "Sticky Fingers" LP and he was very flattered.
Aerosmith covered this song in 2004 as well as some other of his songs on their great "Honkin' On Bobo" album.

In 1971 after Herman's Hermits split up, Peter Noone charted on the UK charts with a cover of David Bowie's "Oh, You Pretty Things".
