One bad game out of six, Hell Joe Montana even had a bad game every once in awhile.Lets see we have the niners and fish coming up at home 2 wins makes it 8 and 0 then we go on a 3 week road trip i see us losing one snce that will be the toughest part of the schedule, in Decemder we have the hapless Bucs vikes and the piss poor packers at home three more wins and a monday night game against the Rams I see a 15 and 1regular season record. Oh and havent you ever heard DEFENSE wins championships., :D
...told ya. They have started already....

I think I am going to pretend I am from New York for awhile...

They were not impressive in Minny either. The Bears are an awesome team at home but only alittle better than average on the road.

Hmmm...looking vunerable...especially to the Rams....

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2630951

Chicago Bears strong safety Mike Brown, who was one of several defensive heroes in Monday night's improbable comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals, will be sidelined indefinitely after Wednesday morning surgery to repair a damaged ligament in his right foot.

Looks like a team with a vetern QB and some top notch receivers could possibly do some damage...

Mike Brown is not only a more than decent player, he is the "QB" of the bears defense...

The Bears have no chance to run the tables with a bottom20 offense(this means I rank their offense between 25-30 of teams in the NFL) that can do nothing against a competent defense as was DISPLAYED on monday when they faced the cards(nothing more than an average defense at best top20(15-25)

Also....How dare you compare Rex Grossman to Joe Montana and anyone half decent for that matter lol...How about you compare him to Ryan Leaf? lol!

Mark my words, the bears will NOT make the superbowl..Watch they will have to play a top5 defense in the eagles and will get dominated by an offense that can move the ball against a GREAT defense(the bears) all the while they will be totally ineffective against a brutal Eagles pass rush...

NFC championchip game: Phillly vs Chicago Score: 20-6

Also, wanted you to note that Carolina, Seattle, St.Louis or New Orleans could all be interchangeable here with either the bears or chicago...Lotsa good teams out there right now...

Btw, I hate the Eagles too...

I tend to follow one rule of thumb in pro sports, specially pro sports betting -

Good teams find ways to win and bad teams find ways to lose.

The Arizona game is the perfect example.
couldn't agree more,"knowing how to win"..some teams have it&some wish they had it

I dont think the BEARS will run the table either but at least we can still talk about it and hope. Its funny how you rank the offense so low i thought they were in the top ten. If you read my post again i never reffered to Trex as the next coming of Montana.I just pointed out that Montana had some bad games also. The Iggles are over hyped they will be lucky to get a wildcard spot let alone win their division. They have a brutal 3 game road trip in December all against division rivals ,Seattle is toast nowwith Hasselback out, . All the Bears need to do is win their division and keep beating up NFC teams and get home field advantage, The team that suprises me the most so far is the Queens, I wouldnt be suprised to see them get a wild card spot. I fully expect to get my playoff ticket invoice by the first of December.:D

Fuck...I hate it when I am right....

The 06 Bears will probably lose to the Pats...a quarterback with less than 16 NFL starts under his belt going against a Bill Belichick defense is a mismatch...and while the Pats will not run up the score against the Bears, Tom Brady is exactly the sort of gusty but calm and cool quarterback who will stay in the pocket and call the right play / make the right throw against a mean pass rush...and he won't get intimidated even when they bounce him around after the throw. Plus, the game is on the road, and the Pats still have LOTS of pride...it will be a "statement" game for them.

Pats 17, Bears 13
Didn't see them losing to Miami (who did??), but I saw this shit coming.....

Real question now is...just how overrated is Rex Grossman?? If I am Lovie Smith I am giving REAL thought to going forward with Brian Griese. He (Lovie) needs to be thinking 2000 Ravens...let the defense win the games while the offense just DOES....NOT...FUCK...IT...UP (how many points have the Bears surendered on turnovers in recent games???).

If this shit keeps up Lovie is going to have a divided team on his hands...the defense having contempt for the offense. As it stands they (the defense) score a third of the points, and generate another third with field position turnovers. Now they have had a game where they got 5 turnovers out of Tom Brady and the Pats and held them to under 20 points in Foxboro, and STILL lost the game. Hell, the defense created a turnover int he last two minutes giving the Bears offense a shot at a win, and the offense does what? Turns it back over on the very next play.

This defense will be holding teams to two touchdowns a game. Any team...except maybe the Colts. Hence, you only need an offense that can score 17 to 20 points. Sounds to me like simple ball control stuff. No flash....and no fucking interceptions.

Grossman is waaaaay over rated....

As good as the Bears defense is, Rex is the key to the success of this team. Now that this obvious statement has been made, I thought just as the Bears showed me something by winning the Arizona game even though they played terribly, yesterday's game shows me something too.

That was a winnable game, and great teams win games like that. The Pats won, despite playing pretty lousy. They know how to win. The Bears aren't at that level yet.

Meanwhile, the freaking Giants have squandered their lead in the NFC East, and now trail the Cowboys, who many of us were writing off as dead just a few weeks ago. Losing to the Titans is inexcusable. Not only that, but I lost most of my picks yesterday, so it was a lousy day all around.

Da Bears..great D from line thru backers thru secondary.great special teams, 2 good RB's good solid O line, good receivers.Hard to criticize a team thats 9-2 BUT Grossman has been inconsistent at QB..some VG games some mediocre& some(no easy way to say it) bad games.
Do you mess with 9-2?tough decisions for Lovie, but thats why he's getting the big bucks

Is that why the Bears are 9 and 2 ?
I am tired of hearing about Grossman being overated. Maybe he will never be a Joe Montana, but he sure knows how to win games.
most people forget that this is his first full season in the NFL.

Plus the Bears made it to the playoffs last year without him>>>>

I don't think Grossman is overrated. Eli Manning is overrated. But Grossman certainly doesn't know how to win games. He needs to learn how not to lose them. He is too inconsistent. But too inconsistent that the defense can bail him out. Any average QB in the league would have the same amount of success with the Bears.

I am glad to see some posters giving a little love to my Bears. I agree with ya BB, we all have to remember that Rex for the most part is still a rookie. So far this year he has won one game and that was at Minnesota and lost one last week. Hopefully learning to win them will come with more experience. He looks great at home for the most part but on the road he is terrrible. We have the Vikings coming to town this week and i am anxious to see how he bounces back after last weeks debacle.Bears win Sunday the clich the division and have 4 weeks left for him to work on his game. The good thing about it is it looks like the road to the SB is going to run thru Chicago. I know they have lost their last 2 playoff games at home but i truly believe this year will be different. To a man all the Bears keep talking about is about the bad taste they had in their mouths after last years loss to Carolina. The weather is supposed to be great for Sundays game windy and in the low 20's :D

That's about right.
Although in Elis case, some blame has to go to the offensive coordinator. i think his schemes are too diffcult and confusing. It is evident that the offense as a whole doesn't grasp the scheme.
Plaxico and Tikki look as confused as ever. Now with Shockley gone it doesn't look very good for the Giants.
I wouldn't say Eli is overrated I think overhyped is the right word.

Grossman has "won" ONE game this season...the Viking game...and that was AFTER the defense set him up to win it.

By comparison, he has lost one game (Patriots), nearly lost another (Cardinals) and has performed VERY poorly in others (Jets, etc.).

A NFL QB doesn't always have to be able to win games...though the best can. However, an NFL QB should NEVER....EVER....EVER LOSE GAMES! You are supposed to out grow that shit in H.S. and college...and also govern yourself accordingly.

That is my problem with Grossman...he is a legend in his own head, no doubt after having read all the praise the fans heaped on him at the beginning of the year. He forces throws into double coverage instead of checking off...he throws difficult and ill-advised long passes for incompletions when he has receivers wide open for short completions....in general he fucking believes he is Brett Farve despite (as you point out) having yet to even play a complete season.

His guidance should be "just take what the denfense gives you, and don't fuck up a good thing". Instead he is listening to the voices in his head that say "you have to 'win' the game".

He doesn't have to win shit. 17 to 20 points a game. That is alll the Bears need. What he NEEDS to do...what he HAS to do...is complete 60% of his passes and stop throwing fucking interceptions....
