a dimentia you will never reach
They most likely will finish that way, though a perfect season is hard to come by. They have a very easy schedule, especially considering they are in the NFC north division, not exactly a powerhouse division these last few years.

Man, I hope they can. But it's the Super Bowl is what's more important. Last Monday, Joe Theismann said the Bears will run the table and finish 19-0. Imagine that!

I knew it would only be a matter of time before a thread like this popped up.Can DA BEARS do it? I think they can, but as every one knows in the NFL anything can happen on a given Sunday. I do know that they wont be beat in Soldier Field this year so thats five more games right there. Next Monday nite we need to get over our jinx on Monday nite football especially on the road and the Cardinals are the perfect medicine. The only 2 games that scare me are the Pats and the Rams both on the road. It would be nice to run the table to 15 and 0 and the last game of the year the Packers come to town. That would be sweet to finish it up against them and see Farves last game all at the same time. I have 2 extra tickets that i am holding on to just for that scenerio,. GO BEARS.

Could they......?

Yes - for the reasons given.

Will they? No - because only one team has. Like someone said, "on any given Sunday".

The 1985 Bears were the greatest team ever...and they lost a game to an opponent that was PERFECTLY built to beat them...speedy receivers going against a good but not outstanding bears secondary (big hitters but not shut down cover guys), being thrown to a quarterback with a lightning release (thus avoiding the vicious Bears pass rush) who was protected by the best offense line in the game at that time (giving him just that much more time).

Those 85 Dolphins were good...but they weren't going to the Super Bowl. But...playing at home...fired up after a pep talk from the 72 Dolphins before the game....and built / configured as they were....well, it was no surprise (to me) that they won.

The 06 Bears will probably lose to the Pats...a quarterback with less than 16 NFL starts under his belt going against a Bill Belichick defense is a mismatch...and while the Pats will not run up the score against the Bears, Tom Brady is exactly the sort of gusty but calm and cool quarterback who will stay in the pocket and call the right play / make the right throw against a mean pass rush...and he won't get intimidated even when they bounce him around after the throw. Plus, the game is on the road, and the Pats still have LOTS of pride...it will be a "statement" game for them.

Pats 17, Bears 13

After losing that game and with the undefeated season no longer in question, they will also lose to the Rams on the road. The Rams are a good team, and even though the Bears are better, the Rams will be looking to prove they are one of the elite team as well (assuming they are still playing as well as they are now). Plus, the Bears weakness on defense (and this is a comparative statement) is that they still do not have a SHUT DOWN secondary...the corners and the safeties are good (very good against the run in fact) but not great...they rely on the pass rush. The Rams will be fired up, as will be their fans...the Bears will be on the road and thrown off because it is a Monday night game.

Rams 27, Bears 23

I still think they are the best team in the league though, and my current Super Bowl pick....

I think the best thing that could happen to the Bears would be to lose a game soon. That way the whole undefeating thing won't get in their way. You look at Indy last year, and I think it was such a distraction. I think if they lose one soon, they will have no problem going 15-1, then dismantling the NFC to make it to the Super Bowl, should the undefeated streak last until say week 13 or so, I think that their season then goes the way of the Colts last year.

O

Oil Please

No Chance! They almost lost to the Vikings, this team is very good but not a 19-0 team.

Good for Joe... but he is just blowing smoke up Chicago's ass... There is no way in hell that this team is going to do it... The defence is going to have one bad game, and the offence is just too damn unpredictable... But then again, you never know...

I don't mind if they go 16 - 0 as long as the chargers win the SuperBowl

no chance...there's reasons why its never happened in the salary cap era...and an undefeated season never will happen...

AND

I'm still not buying into Rex Grossman, his receivers, or his offensive line...I guess I still don't trust their offense after 5-10 years of being in the bottom 10 offenses in the league...

They got away from their running game in that Dec/85 Mon. nite loss to the Fish, probly should've won..but that&$2.75 gets you on the streetcar!

thats an easy schedule for a team that had a good record last year, there toughest game probably going to be against the gaints, but the way DA BEARS!!
are playing with should be able to run the table easily....

They will go 14-0, clinch a bye in the playoffs and lock up 1st seed - rest their starters - and lose to the Detroit Lions in week 16... (ala Indy Colts of last year)...

The oline is one of the best in the league. After a couple more games you will realize the offense is for real.

If the refs would have called the game fairly, the Viks would have won! In 1985 the Bears had the best team that year, but their record since then is laughable. To even mention the Bears in the same category as the Steelers is a joke. I absolutely guarantee that the Bears will not run the table this year!

Who mentioned them to the Steelers? And what does Pittsburgh have to do with anything? And what does the Bears record afetr 1985 have to do with anything? We all know they were horrible for years. It's what there doing now is what this thread was all about.

In that case you should be willing to offer up very, very good odds. Let's see some numbers.

I'm more interested in the other "perfect" season

....the 0-16 one....and we have not one, but two excellent candidates...the Oakland Raiders (and their Commitment to Excrement) and the Detroit Lions. The Raiders are imploding, they lost their third string talent starter AAron Brooks, Randy Moss wants out,and they blew a lead to San Fran to lose a game..excellent credentials

Then you have the Detriot Lions. A team with the worst record over the last 5 yrs...and what does the guy calling the shots(Matt Millen) get??...a contract extension. Of the 3 highly touted receivers he drafted, one is a druggie and gets cut, and can't get on another team (Charles Rogers), another one the coaching staff is trying to run out of town because he refuses to kick his fat overweight ass into shape(Mike Williams) and the one playing right now is only interested in his own personal stats, and is really a 2nd tier receiver in this league(Roy Williams). Add to that a weak offensive line that is injured, no pass rush, and a quaterback that should be a backup, and the Lions seem as capeable as the Raiders of the perfect season.

Too bad they have to play each other..otherwise maybe there would be 2
0-16 teams....but my money is on the Lions, and they have a better chance of accomplishing their perfect season than the Bears ...

Don't forget in today's NFL the last couple of games may be played without certain starters for possible injury related reasons (who wants to see a starter go down in a meaningless game).
