No shortage of stupid people. Let's hope not too many become infected.Scared: not yet...concern: definitely. It only takes one stupid infected person to make a stupid decision that could lead to a pandemic.
2% fatality would make it as bad as the spanish influenza, which was pretty massive.Based on all 72,314 cases of COVID-19 confirmed, suspected, and asymptomatic cases in China as of February 11, a paper by the Chinese CCDC released on February 17 and published in the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology has found that the risk of death increases the older you are, as follows:
80+ years old = 14.8%
70-79 years old = 8.0%
60-69 years old = 3.6%
50-59 years old = 1.3%
40-49 years old = 0.4%
30-39 years old = 0.2%
20-29 years old = 0.2%
10-19 years old = 0.2%
0-9 years old = no fatalities
I'm 38. 0.2% is still a bit high for my liking, but it's nothing to freak out about.
Don’t be so sure. China makes everything, and they’ve been shut down for a month with no end in sight. Supply chains will be affected regardless of whether we suffer a big outbreak over here. The place that makes stuff isn’t making any stuff. This is already going to happen.Come on now, this is completely ridiculous. We’re not going to get anywhere near to the point where we’re so desperate that women are trading sex for food. Like, are you posting from an underground bunker full of dehydrated food? This is an egregious level of alarmism.
Those people who have been predicting doomsday is already here and telling people to stay home are clueless and those who are at the other end of the spectrum that keep saying there is nothing to worry about and the flu is worse are just as clueless, and many are presenting misinformation not facts. Like those who were saying infants are at the same risk as the elderly, which is not true.A couple of weeks ago I would've said that I'm not worried. With what is happening in the world, I'm worried. It has spread like wildfire and they can't control it very well. I will definitely be careful what I tough and where I go.
There’s no attempt to contain the spread of the common flu each year.Well, of course, there is nothing good in this virus. But do you guys know the statistics on how many people die of flu each year? The amount is awful. Speaking about corona virus, the reason of death is complications, so the older people and children are more at risk. But still, I wouldn't visit China now.
i would lock i t down if the cases reach 50...this is a new virus and pretty much unknown...Expect Toronto to be put on lockdown if cases ever reach between 500 to 1,000. This can happen very quickly (see SKorea, Iran and Italy).
If/when that happens all bets are off
Many people have posted on here that children are at risk, again this is incorrect. Matter of fact there have been no death of anyone between the ages of 0-9 from the Corona Virus.Well, of course, there is nothing good in this virus. But do you guys know the statistics on how many people die of flu each year? The amount is awful. Speaking about corona virus, the reason of death is complications, so the older people and children are more at risk. But still, I wouldn't visit China now.
I am much more concerned about Brazil confirming it's first case yesterday than all those countries. It's going to get a lot worse. Spain, the U.K, Estonia, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway and Romania all have it now.
I agree. Countries with less ability to quarantine will get hit with huge amount of damage.I am much more concerned about Brazil confirming it's first case yesterday than all those countries.
