EXACTLY!

Because they are blinded by religious, political and social controls. This is no different then female genital mutilation aka female circumcision.

This is a fundamental and universal breach which is taking away another persons ability to choose. If people want to do this when they are 18 or have sex changes or have abortions, whatever it is their body and their choice, they can do whatever they want. Now someone else is making these choices for you and taking away a persons right to make this choice. You guys don’t see a problem here? Especially when this choice is going against nature itself and it is not a life or death ethical decision based on medical necessity to live and survive for the kid but a perceived luxury someone has fed down their throats to make them believe will make the kids life more beneficial or luxurious or holly.

I believe in universal balance such as matter and anti-matter, action a has an equal reaction, etc...You simply can’t violate someones else’s fundamental right to choose and not expect the reaction back to you. Doesn't matter which intelligent civilization you are in provided it is founded on unbiased universal principles, this is plain wrong in any intelligent society. Just ask yourself where is this root of control coming from? Is it your parents who did it to you and you decide just to blindly continue this tradition? Do you actually believe in it or is this belief someone else's fabrication and you are mainly being used like a chess pawn for sacrifice.

Why can’t you delay this procedure till they are 18 and have enough information and brain maturity to make this decision themselves. Personally I am uncut and have never had an STD in my life and have 2 kids and am almost 40 and have been seeing SPs since my early 20s and no I have not always used protection although I highly recommend it.

I don't think any of us could care less if you are happy or unhappy about your circumcision.

The issue is of allowing mutilation of the bodies of infant boys. We do not allow children to be tattooed.

Why in the bloody world can circumcision not be done at 18 years of age, when the person can make an informed decision about the procedure.

You are obviously uncircumcised and insecure about it.

It's a procedure that is done on an infant so that they don't have to do it later in life when it will be inconvenient. It's really that simple. And I maintain that it is not mutilation and your opinion is strictly that, your opinion and it carries no more weight than mine.

Don't tell me what to do. You, however, feel you have every right to tell me what to do. That somehow your position is correct and I will do what you say. To which I say, go away.

You are uncut and you prove my position - that it's the uncut crowd that seek only to tell other people what to do as if they are somehow more correct.

And BTW, saying that circumcision is the same as female genital mutilation is absurd. In female genital mutilation, they cut the clitoris right off, including the stem in order to control women by removing sexual pleasure. It would be akin to someone cutting your entire penis off at the base, or at best, cutting the head right off and leaving a stump.

Your comparison is absurd. It's not even in the same ball park.

The people complaining are those that are cut and wish they hadn't been, and their argument is valid - aside from medical necessity, one should leave the decision to get cut to the individual. You are happy and didn't think twice about it because you have no way of knowing what you lost. Fortunately, getting cut doesn't seem to have any negative effect on most people.
There will always be people who feel put upon. I have no doubt that there are some men that lament their being circumcised as an infant as some terrible trauma that their parents are responsible for. My guess is that they are the kind people who are professional victims and have a list a mile long of imagined transgressions that others are responsible for and its the reason why they suffer in life however they imagine they suffer.

I can't say I have heard of a cut guy complaining about being circumcised but I have known two uncut men who had issues with their foreskin. They felt very insecure about their cocks aesthetically.

That is in no way a study of anything. Just my experience.

By saying this you don’t get it. My point is THE issue is NOT circumcision. The issue is taking away a persons choice to decide themselves when they are mature enough to make this decision. This is a fundamental breach.

As to whether circumcision is right or wrong is up to the individual and their beliefs just like it is to get a cock ring, breast enhancements or trim the labia etc etc etc...who are we to judge what a grown ass person wants to do to their bodies. Just don’t make this decision on my behalf.

I have no issues with not being cut and don’t look at guys with cut skin at the gym change room with envy. I don’t even think about it unless someone brings it up in a discussion. From personal experience I am doing just fine being uncut and am sure many guys who are cut are also doing fine and have no issues with hygiene, STDs, infections or sexual performance similar to uncut guys. There is no difference really provided you manage your health and cock properly, its the people that cause the difference based on mismanagement of their health and penises and biased perspectives.

It seems like you have the self esteem issues because you keep bringing this over and over again when its not even an issue at hand like a projection of your internal self.

When someone makes this choice on your behalf when its not a life or death issue then yes it is supporting mutilation similar to female genital mutilation which is founded on flawed religious beliefs and both are ultimately supporting mutilation of children without just cause. Its NOT a life or death issue for them as babies. Maybe in some rare cases if their penises are fused then you as a parent need to make this difficult decision, but for regular average babies there is no legitimate life and death just cause to support that this is necessary. Your excuse for violating their fundamental right to choose when they are mature enough like when they are 18 older to get this done or not is “its inconvenient”So for convenience you take away a personal free will and right to choose. This says a lot about how you think and where your fundamental values come from.

You are uncut and you prove my position - that it's the uncut crowd that seek only to tell other people what to do as if they are somehow more correct.

There is some truth to it.

Before surgical hygiene was standardized it was very common for patients to die of infection. Surgeons went in wearing bloody aprons and smoking cigarettes, the better to ward of the evil airs that lingered. Before the standardization, 1 in 3 expectant mothers died of puerperal fever after delivery. One of the most famous victims of the disease is Jane Seymour, third wife of Henry VIII.

Considering that removing the foreskin requires the cutting of nerve endings and the bleeding that occurs, I don't see circumcision as being popular before the standardization. It's strictly a 20th Century fad, hospitals made money from circumcision.

The video clip is incomplete, Semmelweis's standards of hygiene were rejected bu the Viennese medical community. It took a doctor from the German nobility to enforce standards of cleanliness: Baron Rockitansky.

Connections: Before he became a director, George Miller was a medical student. That's how we got Mad Max Rockatansky.

Paradise by the dashboard light.
That article is a load of conflationary garbage. To say that it puts the life of babies in danger because so and so died of an infection in 1853. Or because african tribes do it to teenagers in the jungle. Or because up until 100 years ago, jews had it done in less than sterilec conditions. Half of the examples are from South Africa, where it's done in questionable hygenic conditions as part of coming to adulthood ceremonies.

They do point out:

"It is not known how much of this increased mortality [of boys versus girls] is due to the practice of male circumcision."
indeed. Death from hemorrhage or sepsis due to partial amputation of the penis from severe complications, are rare occurrences

The film looks at research that suggests infant circumcision does translate into some form of PTSD well into adulthood for some people. Cut men react differently to pain etc. Even if it is minor and the person is not aware of the source, why force an unnecessary procedure on them as an infant? The film also interviews a young man that got cut as a young man and he was told by the doctor that it wouldn't change his sensitivity, but it did significantly.

At the end of the day, I think sexuality and sexual pleasure is very important to being human, and altering the organ that is the focal point of that pleasure for reasons that are not medically necessary should be frowned upon.

Imagine never owning a smartphone and not even knowing what it's like to use one and its benefits... you'd be ok with it because you wouldn't know any better (the 70s, 80s, 90s were great, right?). But take a person that uses a smartphone regularly and then take it away from them. Suddenly it's hugely problematic because they know what it's like to have one.

People here are not arguing against circumcision at all. They're saying let the person decide if they want to be circumcised or not. That's not much to ask for since it's something that will affect their entire sex lives.

Every uncut guy has the option to get cut. Some of them do it, most don't. Every male should have that choice. Once the foreskin is gone, you can never get the original version back with all of its unique nerve endings.

Rates of three STDs in Circumcising US reach record high, CDC says

Rates of syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia have climbed for the fourth consecutive year in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday at the National STD Prevention Conference in Washington.

Last year, nearly 2.3 million US cases of these sexually transmitted diseases were diagnosed, according to preliminary data.
That's the highest number ever reported nationwide, breaking the record set in 2016 by more than 200,000 cases, according to the CDC.
"It is time that President Trump and [Health and Human Services] Secretary [Alex] Azar declare STDs in America a public health crisis," David Harvey, executive director of the National Coalition of STD Directors, which co-hosted the conference said Tuesday.
"What goes along with that is emergency access to public health funding to make a dent in these STD rates and to bring these rates down and to ensure that all Americans get access to the health care that they need," he said.

Circumcising Philippines has highest HIV infection growth rate in Asia-Pacific: U.N.

MANILA (Reuters) - The Philippines has registered the fastest-growing HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Asia-Pacific in the past six years with a 140-percent increase in the number of new infections, the health ministry and the United Nations said on Tuesday.

At the end of 2016, there were 10,500 Filipinos infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) up from 4,300 in 2010, Health Minister Paulyn Ubial told a news conference, citing data from UNAIDS.

Ubial encouraged voluntary HIV-testing and use of condoms to help fight the problem, which in May 2017 alone saw 1,098 new cases of HIV infections in the Philippines, the highest recorded number of cases since 1984 when infections were first reported.

Philippines: 93% [Castellsague et al., 2005]. Of these, 42% have their circumcision before the age of 10, 52% have it done between 10 and 14, and for 5% it is between 15 and 18 [Gopal, 2009].

HIV, AIDS cases in Circumcising South Korea on rise

South Korea: 90-95% (at age 18, the average age for circumcision being 12 years) [Pang & Kim, 2002; Gopal, 2009]. Applies to majority Christian population, not just Muslims.

Despite the shrinking number of HIV infections and AIDS patients worldwide, the rates of HIV and AIDS among South Koreans has increased sharply over the past decade, data showed Tuesday.

According to World Health Organization data gathered by the ruling Saenuri Party’s lawmaker Yoon Jong-pil, the number of new HIV infections and AIDS patients around the world decreased 35 percent from 2000 to 2015, while the number in South Korea quadrupled over the same period.

In 2010, 219 South Korean patients were newly infected with HIV, while the number went up to 1,018 in 2015.

Since 2013, there have been at least 1,000 new patients infected with HIV each year. According to data from last year, 93 percent of the newly diagnosed patients were men in their 20s and 30s.

How reasonable is it to have circumcision done at that age or later ? Is it more difficult to do this surgery when the penis and foreskin is fully developed ? Or does it matter ? Is it done at infancy because its more easily performed then ?

yes, but the problem is, it's your body and nobody has the right to chop anything off of it. Once it's gone, it's gone. (having said that, this documentary showed a company that has created devices to help grow the skin back and there were a bunch of cut guys showing them how they use them and how it works) Lot easier to cut if off then grow it back.

I can think of one obvious reason. It would friggin hurt. At 18 I had trouble making easy decisions. That one would be a bit of a hurdle. The night before the appointment and all.

Im actually curious... how do you keep the foreskin pulled back to be the same as circumcised guy?
It took time, and yes its dry and not uncomfortable, only at the beginning but after a few months it was fine. But every person is different my foreskin is more loose after yrs of masturbation. It does not hug the head as some others do, you can actually stretch the skin and make it loose lol.

Just for the record, no scalpel was used on my son when he was done. A plastic bell is placed on the penis over the hood under the foreskin. Then a string is tightly wrapped around the bottom of the foreskin. After a spell, the bell and the skin falls off.

Don't know if that changed in 25 years but there was no cutting off of the foreskin with a scalpel.
