Didn't say that did I...Yes, Chris Nilan was there for his skating.

And you think that calling somebody a fool is better than stating something that is irrefutably true. Hockey and boxing are completely different. As was your last two. "they are not same" and "what I say is true".

Name calling is always an admission of defeat.
Those helmets don't do shit for protection and visors only became mandatory recently.
You totally did not say that.I wasn't name calling. I said it it's a foolish thing to think that way.
You completely called me a fool. Then your being a complete fool.
I would definitely classify Chris Nilan as one dimensional. In The Flower's glory years with Les Habs I guess the only non skilled goon they had was Gilles Lupien and he was only there for a short time. Nilan comes around in 79 but he could actually skate so I wouldn't classify him as a one dimensional goon.
He was one of the fastest skaters on the team who played a regular shift. Also scored 21 goals one year. Wasn't quite John Ferguson but was a good 4th line player.I would definitely classify Chris Nilan as one dimensional.
Okay, I'll rephase if it. In general, I don't think your a fool at all, but your thought process on this particular subject is completely foolish. You totally did not say that.
You completely called me a fool.
Much more diplomatic.Okay, I'll rephase if it. In general, I don't think your a fool at all, but your thought process on this particular subject is completely foolish.

Diplomatic give me a break…you’re on TERB not on The View…Much more diplomatic.
John Kordic was an all-star defenceman in the WHL.He was one of the fastest skaters on the team who played a regular shift. Also scored 21 goals one year. Wasn't quite John Ferguson but was a good 4th line player.
John Kordic was a goon.
And Guy Carbonneau scored 182 points in his last year in QMJHL...What's your point?John Kordic was an all-star defenceman in the WHL.
...what is your point? You brought John Kordic up and I made a point about him...what does Guy Carbonneau have to do with this? And Guy Carbonneau scored 182 points in his last year in QMJHL...What's your point?
Look, there are multiple reasons people kill themselves or die young. I would say that the fact so many of the enforcers died young says something. Probert, Bleak, Simon, etc. You don't see skilled players doing this. So, I think the odds leaning towards brain injuries for their deaths. I'm not going to say its 100% for sure, but it certainly makes you wonder. Many were on steroids back then, 80s 90s. Do hockey players commit suicide any higher frequency than the rest of the male population? Many of the goons of years ago seem to have a good quality of life. It's long been rumored belak was a victim of erotic asphyxiation but they won't release that to dishonour him. Stu grimson came out and said that.
There was a class action law suit years ago by former nhl and minor league players claiming long term debilitating head injuries. It was dismissed I believe as lack of evidence and a cash grab by players not in great financial shape. Gary leeman was part of it, had 531 pims in his career. He was one of the bigger names, they were mostly hucksters looking for a payout.
I think everyone understands there are risks in life. But, there are also ways to mitigate risk. The NHL has banned hits where the primary contact was the head. Think of guys like Eric Lindros or Paul Kariya who had their careers disrupted because of headshots. And, the players are bigger, stronger and faster today. Punches hit harder, body checks rattle bones. It isn't like they're all 5'10 beanpoles playing...What do we do? Ban all contact sports? All of life has a risk. Many people dont understand that.
They are also more ballsy because of the equipment.I And, the players are bigger, stronger and faster today. Punches hit harder, body checks rattle bones. It isn't like they're all 5'10 beanpoles playing...
Carbonneau changed his play when he realized he would not be a major goal scorer in the NHL. Despite his track in junior hockey. So he became a legend of defensive hockey and won 2 Stanley Cups where he was one of the most important players....what is your point? You brought John Kordic up and I made a point about him...what does Guy Carbonneau have to do with this?
He was no hall of famer…Carbonneau changed his play when he realized he would not be a major goal scorer in the NHL. Despite his track in junior hockey. So he became a legend of defensive hockey and won 2 Stanley Cups where he was one of the most important players.
Some who are a bit less talented will use their hand to fight.
Not Carboneau you may dislike him that`s fine but no one can deny that he was a fucking important player on the ice.
That's a great point. If you compare things like elbow pads from the 80s to today, it's a day for night difference. Today's equpiment looks like it could stop bullets. All hard plastic, when in the past it was leather. Look at the goalies from that era, they seem so small, and virtually nobody until Patrick Roy went down to stop shots. Its sort of crazy....They are also more ballsy because of the equipment.
