I'm sorry but what I say is true.Absolute horse shit.
Your somehow trying to justify fighting because that "is the sport" , but condemning because it's only "part of a sport".
Your argument about boxers being trained to "defend" themselves vs fights in hockey is absolutely laughable.
I used to like it more than I do now. Reaves fighting delauriers was a clown show. They just wanted to be centre of attention. There was no purpose to the fight. The rats in the history of the league never really had to fight anyway, Kenny linesman, Marchand, currently its cuzzins in Florida.Shack has made the statement before that he would be in favour of removing fighting from hockey. He finds it distasteful.
He's been consistent on this topic.
To me if you remove it then you're going to see a lot of players taking liberties with higher skilled players.
You upset the checks and balances.
That being said I'm a big MMA fan so I lean toward pugilism. Too me it ramps up my adrenaline and my viewing experience.
It was interesting reading Matthews and Marner's comments praising how they admire Reavers and his ability as an enforcer the other day. They're happy that he is on the team...Maybe that says it all.
So that means it's okay?I'm sorry but what I say is true.
Can hockey as a sport be played without punching to the head. Yes
Can boxing matches be held if there was no punching to the head. No.
I have no issue if he finds fighting in hockey distasteful, but to somehow turn around be okay with boxing because that is the sport and because they're "trained to defend themselves" is asinine.Shack has made the statement before that he would be in favour of removing fighting from hockey. He finds it distasteful.

It means that they are not the same. They are not comparable. So that means it's okay?
I used to like it when it had a purpose like sticking up for a teammate when an opposing player took liberties on them. But can't stand it when it's just to show off. That's why I could never stand Tie Domi. He never stood up for teammates he just acted like what he was doing was for the better of the team when he just wanted show off and make a name for himself. I still think his sucker punch to Ulf Sameulsson was a coward's punchI used to like it more than I do now. Reaves fighting delauriers was a clown show. They just wanted to be centre of attention. There was no purpose to the fight. The rats in the history of the league never really had to fight anyway, Kenny linesman, Marchand, currently its cuzzins in Florida.
Boxing is a controlled fight with padded gloves. You could argue so is hockey but fighting in hockey is bare knuckle and your head can hit the ice.So that means it's okay?
You go into hockey dreaming of scoring goals like Guy Lafleur with your hair flowing in the wind with a full-pack forum screaming your name 'Guy Guy Guy'...Boxing is a controlled fight with padded gloves. You could argue so is hockey but fighting in hockey is bare knuckle and your head can hit the ice.
You didn't understand my point did you.You go into hockey dreaming of scoring goals like Guy Lafleur with your hair flowing in the wind with a full-pack forum screaming your name 'Guy Guy Guy'...
But due to lack of talent, and many scumbags with no education, you may end up having to use your fighting skills to make it. To scare others and 'turn the game around' as they say. All under the supervision of a low-level coach that was most probably one of those scumbags.
Boxing, as you said, is controlled, and most of all a choice made by the 2 involved.

Very compelling counterpoint. Then your being a complete fool.
As was your last two. "they are not same" and "what I say is true".Very compelling counterpoint.
Those helmets don't do shit for protection and visors only became mandatory recently. In hockey you wear helmets and in these days a visor, in boxing you don't. Do you want to keep going?
He had talent but was used as an enforcer. He'd be like Matt Martin in today's NHL. Tie Domi on the other hand would've been out of the league way before he retired had he never played in Toronto.Dirty player that wouldn’t even sniff the league now so good riddance!
In The Flower's glory years with Les Habs I guess the only non skilled goon they had was Gilles Lupien and he was only there for a short time. Nilan comes around in 79 but he could actually skate so I wouldn't classify him as a one dimensional goon. You go into hockey dreaming of scoring goals like Guy Lafleur with your hair flowing in the wind with a full-pack forum screaming your name 'Guy Guy Guy'...

Yes, Chris Nilan was there for his skating. In The Flower's glory years with Les Habs I guess the only non skilled goon they had was Gilles Lupien and he was only there for a short time. Nilan comes around in 79 but he could actually skate so I wouldn't classify him as a one dimensional goon.
