That goal by Alfonso Davies will be in the highlight reels all over Canada. Davies should in the running for Lou Marsh as well.
I think he's saying the whole confederation doesn't belong in the world cup other than Mexico but FIFA and the WC doesn't except that.
That was an amazing goal. Never gave up on the play. A testament to perseverance.
We've caught up to Mexico, playing in the Azteca didn't intimidate the lads. If we had a distributor, we could have won the match.
Ironically it was a tactic Latin American teams have used to intimidate Canada in the past that made Fonzo's goal possible. The Panamanian defender was too preoccupied with not tripping over the boom mic, letting the ball get away from him. Central American teams like to amplify the crowd noise.

Canada moves up the FIFA rankings to 48th.
It wasn't pretty but Canada found a way to win 1-0 over Costa Rica. Canada sits at 13 pts and is 9 pts (3 wins) away from qualifying.
Never mind the weather, the pitch at commonwealth is terrible. Don't know if that favors Canada or not. The reason for these matches to be in Edmonton is for Alphonso Davies. The grass and BMO, Montreal or in Vancouver is far better.
I thought it was a big risk to play these games on the frozen turf of Commonwealth Stadium, but the lads persevered. As they are currently constructed they can stand with Mexico.

That Buchanen bicycle kick would have been a beauty goal. Canada hit 2 bars and held most of the play with 65% of the possession.
Brilliant play by Johnson to intercept the clear and get a solid shot on net which led to the rebound for Larin who made no mistake in burying it.
