23-25 pts might be enough to qualify.

vs Honduras 1-1 (Outplayed Honduras) Home
vs USA 1-1 (stole the point, got outplayed by the USA) Away

Canada plays El Salvador on Wednesday, Sept 8.

I watched a bit of the match USA Canada.

Neither team belongs in the World Cup.

Canada was away playing in the US they’ll take the point. But they need to win next one and it won’t be that easy Honduras can play soccer.

As for their place in the world cup i have no problem with it. Soccer is improving a lot in America since the past few years and it will only intensify. The main goal is 2026.

The US was for the taking, they were beatable, Canada should have walked away with 3 pts.

I agree with you but soccer's a bitch sometimes ;) The thing is US played a better game yesterday (in my opinion). By the way I absolutely love to see Davis plays as a forward! Good lord I like to watch this player plays!

It's a shame that this team doesn't get much support and media attention. Yes, the Jays are stealing all the attention now.

Canada continues the quest for the world cup. Canada put up a fantastic 1-1 draw against Mexico in Mexico City. The last time Canada scored in Mexico was in 1980. Canada with play Jamaica on Sunday. Canada has 6 pts. This group of Canadian players believes they can make the world cup. Too bad the rest of Canada hasn't jumped on the bandwagon yet.

On paper it looks impressive, yet Canada could have won the game.

Our wingers were making the Mexican defense look old but the service was poor. That's the difference between the men and the women, the lads don't have a quarterback - the lasses have Ashley Lawrence. With her the Canadian women can beat anybody. So far no one has stepped up to take on that role for the men.

Fonzo is not a selfish player, numerous times he dropped back from his forward position to cover Herving Lozano (who's having a breakout year with Napoli). He creates too much chaos in opposition defences to keep him deep. Canada nearly blew it by almost conceding an own goal, it hit the crossbar and the rebound was cleared.

The Men don't have a quarterback... Ashley Lawrence (kneeling, third from left), my choice for the Lou Marsh Trophy.

Yes this hasn't been given much press at all. Great news that after so many years Canada is fielding a world class men's soccer squad. 1 win and 3 draws after 4 matches sitting 3rd in the table. Jamaica, who is our next opponent, is last in the table with 1 draw and 3 losses so far.

They do not belong in the WC. Maybe in 8 years, as they are making progress.

To be really competitive in 8 years they need to make it next year. The experience gained will be really valuable for 2026. Our current squad is young.
Davies 21
David 21
Buchanan 22
Johnston 23
Miller 24
Brault-Guillard 22
Cornelius 23
Shaffelburg 21

And by then I can tell you some others will join the squad. There is some real talent coming out of Canada's soccer youth.

These players will all be in their peak soccer maturity in 2026.

Very true. Our center mid-field was quite weak. Kaye made a lot of mistake. Looked nervous the whole game. Beside him we had Eustáquio. He was quiet in this game but wait. He is coming back from an injury and did not play for almost a year. He can play better and fill that position. Hopefully if Portugal does not call him up! As he could also play for Portugal.

There is a lot of soccer to be played before 2026 which is the real target of Soccer Canada. When it was confirmed 2026 would be in America Soccer Canada made a huge restructure for all Canadian soccer association. A lot of soccer association all over Canada had to merge to meet the new structure. Basically all players from 8 to 12 play in a club format. No more d1 and d2 team and then the city local teams coached by a pop or a mom! The result is amazing. My own son who had played on the d2 team from 8 to 10 was called up on team 1 for about 80% of the game the past 2 year2. And next year he was called up for the provincial development league (the 13 and 14 year old league). If it wasn't for the new structure he would have never made it. And by the way the structure Soccer Canada changed to is similar to what's happening in Europe. They parted ways from the hockey structure model they had. I'm telling you we will see many other young canadian making the MLS and/or being called up in Europe.

This is the golden age of Canada's men's soccer, they do it now, look at the talent. This team believes they will make it for 2022. And for the first time since 1980, Canada scores a goal in Mexico, they could have had 3.

They believe they will make it, and they believe they belong in the world cup.
They have to, and they will want to prove themselves.

I just remember the USA Canada game, and both teams had a lot to learn.

Well, it was a grind on a terrible pitch and in humid conditions. Canada walked away with a 0-0 draw from Jamaica. Wednesday is a must-win game vs Panama at BMO field. Canada sits with 7 pts.

Meanwhile, the USA lost to Panama. The media is blasting the US head coach, calling for his firing.
