I'd eat her snatch even if it gives me COVID delta and omicron at the same time...still a hypocrite though....

You know she has a university degree from a prestigious university, huh?

You can only run the "bartender" line so far.
Perhaps not, but there is no lower limit on the stupidity of her remarks since she was elected
The fact she graduated is a blistering indictment of the US college system

she is as bright as a two watt light bulb

She clearly does not understand economics
She is being described as a "Democratic socialist". F. Hayek famously said: "If socialists understood economics, they wouldn't be socialists". Besides, they used to have faculties of economics all over the Eastern Block, many at storied and prestigious universities. They had professors who gave lectures and graduated thousands of "experts", with mighty titles....in the Marxist economic theory. ROTFLMFAO!!!

People here should really try to understand what Social Democracy means.

A hint: Most of Europe, UK being the exception, is governed by Social Democratic policies.

I would argue, that these countries are governed better than USA and Canada.

Yes, a poor girl from a Latino community....of Yorktown Heights. A 90% white community for the middle class. The wind was always contrary and the way to school was a steep incline. Sandy Ocasio had it very, very rough.
Without taking the trouble to read her bio, AOC has actually done pretty well for a middle class white kid as well. How many congress members are there in the USA? 500-odd?

Pretty great achievement - and at that young age as well.

And boy, have Germany and Scandinavia been an economic bust!.... All of them backward and bankrupt.

Pretty clear that social welfare policies don't work, huh?

I fail to see how it can offend you that she wanted to study International Relations and Economics instead of microbiology. She did well enough in her chosen field to become an intern for a Senator.

Anybody else than the most ardent right winger will say, that AOC has done remarkably well, for a poor girl from the Latino community.

She is an American success story, somebody who in times gone by would be celebrated by Republicans.
Anyone with common sense would say AOC is nothing more than a young woman with the right looks, the right demographic, in the right place at the right time when it comes to her political career. That kind of timing does not make anyone smart, nor qualified, nor significant.

She's an American story, but not a success story. She's an example of what is wrong with American politics.

So by your logic, she can't be dumb because she's a congressperson?
is that your final answer?
You know my answers are always nuanced, Rich.

So... she can't be stupid purely because she was a bartender. That's was Dutch's argument. And the easiest comeback is to say to Dutch, "but she's not even a bartender any more". Do I think there are dumb congress members?..... Sure. Let's start with MTG, throw in Cawthrone, Goemert and Boebert and maybe spice things up with Jordan and Nunes.

I think AOC is a lot smarter than all of those.

I enjoy when they run the bartender line. I respect people who worked to get themselves through school

Your problem is that you could say exactly the same stuff about any successful US politician in the last 50 years. What made your guy Trump successful - at least for a little while until he got his ass kicked out? How about Dubya? Reagan?

So it's a meaningless statement, right?

Dutch, how many times are you and your buds going to post about AOC? Wouldn't it be more interesting for you to post about economic police or foreign affairs? You know, something a little deeper than speculating about the IQ of a single junior congressperson over and over and over and over and over again, the way that you and your buddies do?!

Are you obsessed?

Your reading isn't nuanced, because you failed to understand my argument, or even read what I said. She's stupid because she says stupid stuff. Frequently. Didn't I say that explicitly? Her life history is just more evidence of her vapid flighty personality that helps demonstrate the point.

But you're chasing your own butt around the room. You NOW say that she's not stupid just because she was a bartender. She's stupid because she's stupid. Fine, we agree to disagree.

But then...... you say she's "vapid and flighty" because she was a bartender. And you put yourself back at square one all over again. I just say "But she's a congressperson now" and you've cornered yourself again.

Just out of curiosity - What is NOT "vapid and flighty"?..... Going to hairdresser school at 18 years, so she can earn a paycheck? Or maybe secretarial school?.... Something appropriate for a young woman, so she earns a modest wage and knows her place? Definitely NOT a liberal arts education and having liberal ideas, right? That would never play at the Dutch family dinner table!

BU has become nothing more than a social activist training camp. They aren't even requiring SAT scores starting in 2022!: https://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/first-year/#Grades

Instead, they are going to give a lot of weight to "community involvement" (code for activism).

She was a bartender because the real world knows the real worth of the degree she obtained.

And she's a moron because of all the moronic things she says, not because of her level of education.
What’s wrong with being an activist?
Do you see working to change the world as a bad thing?

Now you're being ridiculous. Is there anyone less accomplished with less useful experience than AOC in Congress? Trump ran a significant business for decades. Dubya was stupid, but at least he'd sat on some boards of directors and learned about the presidency itself through his father. Reagan: a) worked in Hollywood, b) ran SAG, and c) worked on political committees for a couple of decades, d) acted as a spokeperson for Goldwater, and e) started his political career at the state level before heading to Washington. As meagre as that is, it completely eclipses anything AOC has to bring to the table (which in all honesty, is only beverages!).

As to your final inane remarks, this thread was about the hubris or bad judgment of AOC contracting Covid. I actually defended her on that front. Other people, like you, made it a referendum on her stupidity.

Do you see 6 bankruptcies by Trump as a measure of his business success?

Nah, it's Trump's inept and bumbling efforts at paying off one-night stands who later turned around and ratted him out publicly anyway. The epitome of skill, intellect and deft handling.
