You are simply speculating about the nature of here education. Neither you nor I have any idea what, if any, bias there was in her program.
Yes, but I know how these programs are structured and how they vary grealty from university to university. She can be incredibly smart and studious, but study entirely different curriculum than economic majors at other major universities. It's not an indictment of her intelligence. It might be considered an indictment of universities.

Again, you're thinking through this superficially. AOC would likely advocate Canada take in far more immigrants from Latin America. She would want higher levels of redistribution within Canada and from Canada to the Third World.

Canada is still a predominantly White, European country. Canada owes the World a lot more contrition
You know that the GTA is 50%+ non white, huh?

And that immigration targets are about 400,000 per annum IIRC?

What’s wrong with being an activist?
Do you see working to change the world as a bad thing?
Nothing, but most activists are simply unemployed politicians. Did someone say Al Gore?

This might be true, but perhaps too harsh. She beat Joe Crowley in a primary to basically takeover a Democrat seat. Crowley was not only old, but appeared to take his seat in Congress for granted.

This doesn't happen often, but it does happen. Candidates with charisma and personal appeal including looks can make it happen. I find AOC to be very articulate even though I don't agree with her on most things.
I've met more articulate bartenders than her. However, I didn't think they would be able to bring much to public policy making either. Luckily for them (and for me, as a customer) mixology is also a useful skill.

Does GTA have a U.N. seat?

The point was AOC has a hard-on for the white, male patriarchy. (I think I got the dialectic correct.) I'm sure she would have plenty of improvements for Canada.

Nice to read a more honest assessment here vs the usual partisan 'she's stupid' posts.
Are you actually reading m
Without taking the trouble to read her bio, AOC has actually done pretty well for a middle class white kid as well. How many congress members are there in the USA? 500-odd?

Pretty great achievement - and at that young age as well.
Truthfully, wasn't she handpicked by a leftward organization to run against Crowley? I could be wrong, but I thought they actually held interviews to find a candidate. Does anyone know more about this?

This doesn't mean AOC isn't charismatic and photogenic, In fact, it might reinforce it.

I actually think that Canada would be AOC's poster child country. State-funded medical care and a generous social safety net. That's pretty much her core platform. Not sure about the green energy part.

Canada imports hundreds of thousands of third-worlders every year to make up for declining birth rates and to staff service sector and other blue collar jobs. Are there parts of Canada where that doesn't impact?.... Sure. Isolated, traditional, non urban areas in Atlantic Canada and rural Quebec, the Prairies and the BC interior. But the EGH and the Lower Mainland is now less than 60% white, I would guess.

That's not "contrition". That's Canada doing its economy. I thought you were an economist.

In case you do not know, Norway has a Sovereign Wealth Fund of $1.4T (Trillion)

That is about $280,000 for each man, women and child.

Socialism at work
Alluding to oil actually helped my point about exports and trade surpluses of Northern European countries.

Offshore drilling at work.

We all know that Sanders and AOC considers Scandinavia, and in particular Denmark the Poster child country.

I agree with you on the necessity for immigration, but not only for population reasons. Canada also need to import highly educated professionals.

Canada's welfare system is ONLY generous in comparison to USA's welfare. In reality the Canadian welfare system is marginal.

That's an example of colonialism, with the US putting sanctions on Venezuela because they elected a socialist.
Or capitalism eating socialism because they were competing.
You mean they can't sell oil to the U.S. I would think oil was fungible. The U.S. won't buy Venezuelan oil products and someone else like China, Europe or even other Latin American countries will simply come in and buy the oil products. Brazil has been somewhat dependent on China for buying its exports. It's a big world.

While you can probably find leftist authors trying to send out this old dog to hunt, it's old Marxist theory that U.S. capitalism dominated and subjugated its Southern neighbors. It's been outdated and debunked by the Chilean economic boom and Argentinian stagnation. Right-wing or Left-wing government interventions into the economy have not worked out well for the region.
