Typical reverse logic:

Because you think she is dumb and she has a degree from BU, it must be a shitty University.

The real world knows she earned a University a University degree while working to support her family.

But you are right, it would have been smarter to be born into money.
The key to understanding the error in your logic was right in my post. I didn't decide her degree is worthless. The world did. And AOC accepted that verdict. That's why she accepted a job as a bartender instead of a job as a high paid analyst in an economic think tank or a bank.

I know she's stupid by what she says. Many of the stupid things she says pertain to economics, which her degree is in. I have no idea whether she is referring to anything she was taught, or whether she misunderstood the material, or whether she just makes shit up. I could give you plenty of examples, but let's not derail the thread.

she advocates for are things we already have in Canada. And we are just fine.
We are? We are in massive debt (public and private), and we can't afford the level of healthcare or education (our 2 largest public spending priorities) we currently provide. (Even though we spend hardly anything on national defense, relying upon our good neighbour for that). How is that "fine"?

I guess everything's "fine" until the repo man shows up at your house! LOL!

Contract a serious medical illness like cancer this year and you'll find out just how "fine" we are!

You can write a thousands posts of how stupid she is, but you will not change anybody's mind. The mere idea that somebody is sub par because they have to work for a living, is a non starter with most people.

Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007.[15] In high school and college, Ocasio-Cortez went by the name of "Sandy Ocasio".[16] She came in second in the microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2007 with a research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.[17][18] In a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[19][20] In high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University. Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship.[21]

During college, Ocasio-Cortez served as an intern for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy in his section on foreign affairs and immigration issues.[25] She recalled, "I was the only Spanish speaker, and as a result, as basically a kid – a 19-, 20-year-old kid – whenever a frantic call would come into the office because someone is looking for their husband because they have been snatched off the street by ICE, I was the one that had to pick up that phone. I was the one that had to help that person navigate that system."[25] Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum laude[26] from Boston University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both international relations and economics.

You know she has a university degree from a prestigious university, huh?

You can only run the "bartender" line so far.
You are aware the Donald Trump has a degree from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania a presstigious school. Bill Gates is a Havard drop out and Steve Jobs dropped out after only one semester at Reed College.

His result are sealed. He paid the school so they remain so. And his diploma was bought out too. So much for attending a prestigious school haha

Dutch, most kids who graduate with liberal arts degrees work in a low paying job for a year or two before getting on a career path. She's now a congressperson. As you say "Res ipsa loquitur".

So you think. And you have proof of this.
Obama's academic records were sealed as well. Probably to protect his "brilliance ". A lesson learned after the Gore vs. Bush argument when it turned out that Dubya had a better academic record than Al.

Since "the thing" did not successfully spell it out for you, here's what you should have gleaned from Danmand's post:
  • AOC showed some interest/aptitude in the sciences in high school. So what did she do? Entered a program in the liberal arts/social sciences! Smart or dumb?
  • AOC successfully completed a degree in liberal arts/social sciences. So what did she do? Entered a career in mixology! Smart or dumb?
  • AOC had some success in her career in mixology, due mostly, I'm sure, to her attractiveness (based on the favourable comments about her looks by many on this board). What did she do? Entered the political arena so she could make important policy decisions for everyone (presumably decisions just as sound as those she made for herself). Politics, after all, is often described as the only beauty contests for ugly people!
Has she made a sensible decision, or a sensible statement, in her entire life?

Not sure if you have kids. You don't talk about any, and you're usually pretty free with personal details. I think most people would not like their kids to be as flighty as AOC, notwithstanding her sheer good fortune in becoming a congressperson (albeit one who doesn't actually do anything apart from appear in the media).

She is a dimwit. If only she was pleasant, I could probably overlook it.

Some kids just want to take liberal arts, Dutch. If I had kids and they wanted to take liberal arts, I would be fine with that. It's not as though science stream grads are getting jobs either and there's plenty of time for a liberal arts grad to get a career skills course later. What are they supposed to tell her?.... Go to trade school and get an electrician's certificate. It's pretty clear that she's smart enough and hard-working enough to chart her own course.

If I had a kid who was a well-known congress member in DC, I'd be pretty damn proud. It's a helluva achievement. If AOC went to BC, dropped out halfway through first year and then developed a drug habit and went on social assistance, I'd be less impressed. AOC's career so far is full of success, hard work and results. Well done, AOC!

I fail to see how it can offend you that she wanted to study International Relations and Economics instead of microbiology. She did well enough in her chosen field to become an intern for a Senator.

Anybody else than the most ardent right winger will say, that AOC has done remarkably well, for a poor girl from the Latino community.

She is an American success story, somebody who in times gone by would be celebrated by Republicans.

Yes, a poor girl from a Latino community....of Yorktown Heights. A 90% white community for the middle class. The wind was always contrary and the way to school was a steep incline. Sandy Ocasio had it very, very rough.
