Probably true. Best in Leaf history, although Tim Horton is also on Legends Row.

Some old timers might argue Red Horner, King Clancy and Hap Day.

I grimaced again when I saw that video. How could the Habs have allowed an 83 year old out on the ice with skates. He fell twice. Lucky he didn't break a hip. At his age a broken hip is a death sentence.

I'm always a bit worry when the teams bring out the old timers. He was in his 70's. I thought he risked breaking a hip when he fell (twice).

"In a 1985 Montreal Canadiens Old-Timers game, Joliat skated around the Montreal Forum to a huge ovation as a "special treat" for the fans. Despite falling twice over TV cables on the ice, he quickly stood up and finished his skate, the trademark black cap he wore back in his playing days held in his hand.[citation needed]"

Seeing as you have proven yourself to be incapable of admitting that you made any kind of mistake, ever, you will chicken out, duck and turtle to avoid giving a direct answer.

Yes or no, were those on topic or simply another example of your hijacking skills?

Mark Giodano is a Norris winner --- while with the Flames.

The best defenseman the Leafs ever had never played defense for them........Red Kelly.
"According to long-time Red Wings beat writer Bob Duff in his book, “100 Things Red Wings Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die”, All-Star defenseman Red Kelly was interviewed by the Toronto Globe and Mail about his resurgent 1959-60 campaign, which followed a less-than-optimal 1958-59 season. Kelly revealed that he had broken his ankle during the ’58-59 campaign and tried to play on it after Adams had asked him to give it a shot."

Of course, Kelly was traded to the Leafs after the 1959-60 season for Marc Reaume.

(Bobby Baun won the Stanley Cup on a broken ankle.)

Any intelligent and rational person would know I was responding to paulhunter23 when he said that Salming was the best Leaf defenseman ever. So, I mentioned I heard that Red Horner, King Clancy and Hap Day were also pretty good.

BTW: I try to avoid people who post pics of Turtle Boy, living rent free in my head and Captain Obvious. I, and I assume any intelligent and rational person think it is immature and silly. I'm a member of a couple of two other internet chatrooms and nobody in those chatrooms ever post pics of Turtle Boy and/or Captain Obvious.

Salming is a very sick man. He should not have been made to stand for the full ceremony. Couldn't the Leafs afford a wheelchair?

"The illness has taken away his ability to speak, and it’s now difficult for him to eat normally so he needs to use a feeding tube for nutrition."

That was his choice, it has to be respected. The man may be ill but he still has his pride. William Nylander and Ollie Eckmann Larsson were in tears as he dropped the puck, the Canucks defense-man kissed him on the cheek.

Understood. He also got some support from Sittler and Sundin but still. At least he didn't lace up skates like Aurel (or Aurele) Joliet.

Edit: Corrected his first name.

Anybody with reading comprehension knows that I was asking you about the posts of Joliete. |Those guys above also were not in Salming's era. Intelligent and rational people know that you keep ducking a reply to a straight question of how the vignettes of Joliete relate to Salming.

BTW: I try to avoid people who post pics of Turtle Boy, living rent free in my head and Captain Obvious. I, and I assume any intelligent and rational person think it is immature and silly. Living in one's head is when you are in a conversation with someone else and out of the blue reference me, either directly or indirectly. In this case, I was responding directly to your off topic posts. Very different.

What is truly immature is the inability to admit a mistake. You know that your posts of Joliete have nothing to do with Salming and are off topic. Another poster called you out for constantly hijacking threads. A child refuses to admit they are wrong. And as is your pattern, you are afraid to answer a simple question, when you are challenged on a topic. Instead you turtle. You've done it over and over and over. Your moniker is well-deserved.

If you don't like seeing turtle boy, try being more mature and reply instead of running away when challenged.

Poor Dartsy, he keeps stepping in it: it's Aurel Joliat. Known as The Little Giant, he lived to the ripe old age of 85. He outlived his famous linemate The Stratford Streak by 49 years: Howie Morenz.

Medicine was not advanced enough to save his life.

Correction noted. I also seen it spelled as "Aurele".

Yes, my point is that the Habs should not have allowed him to skate around at the advanced age of 83. He actually fell twice and could have injured himself. Another member actually posted a video of the incident.

Likewise the Leafs should not have forced Salming who is deathly ill to stand for the full ceremony.

BTW: His daughter later married Bernie Geoffrion.

The above is all meaningless and useless garbage. Thanks for contributing nothing to the topic.

It was useless and meaningless drivel you posted regardless of somebody else being off topic or not.

I ask once again , Turtle Boy, did your posts regarding an old fart Hab have anything to do at all with the discussion of Salming, the person who is a Leaf legend, in failing health, and the topic of this thread.

Yes or no.

I'm pretty sure that you will duck, which will result in another cartoon. You are not mature enough to admit that you are in the wrong.

It was a very nice and emotional tribute, but it was obvious that he was a very ill man and should not have been made to stand for the full ceremony. (Just like the Habs should not have allowed Joiet to skate around the rink, as an example.) Yes, I'm speaking of Salming the subject of this thread.

P.S. Fortunately, nothing bad happened but the risks were there. For example, he could have slipped and fell.
