Glad to the manager calling out Vladdy for not hustling.
Loved it. I like this guy. He doesn't mix words and doesn't sugar coat shit. Dropped Bo down the the 7 spot because he wasn't hitting, but didn't give a shit about his prima donna feelings and got results. Take the "interim" off the title cause he's the new skipper.

He's aggressive isn't afraid to take risks.

There's no mention of what happens if the Mariners' make-up game needs to be played, to determine seeding, (see post #813).

My guess is that it WON'T be played UNLESS the outcome will potentially determine which teams play in the post season, and not if it only determines a seeding rank.

There is logic to that: If the outcome of the make-up game just determines #5 vs #6 seed, the Mariners could play with a B Squad to give starters an extra day of rest if they wanted to play Toronto in the wildcard round, instead of Cleveland. Some TV network would pony up a sizeable chunk of money for the 'playoff preview' game, and they wouldn't be happy if they got spring training lineups. The opposition, if they've been eliminated, could play hard if they wanted to stick it to Seattle, or they could roll over, in exchange for 'future considerations'. It would be a 'perfect storm' for a gambling fix, if someone had advanced knowledge of both teams' strategies.

Back in the day, when teams that had been eliminated from the pennant race played each other in late September, it was common for the game to be over in an hour and a half, especially if the weather was cold or rainy. Players were paid a lot less back then, which might have been a factor.

Does Bo have prima donna feelings? From what I've heard, he's one of the hardest working Jays.

Maybe you have some specific examples.

Schneider's done a lot of good things but I don't understand why he put lefty Mayza in, knowing that Judge was coming up.

Sure, as mentioned, he bitched when dropped down to 7 spot despite the fact he wasn't hitting like a top of the line up guy. He's anything but a good defensive SS, but because he sulks, we have to put up with his shitty play in the field despite the fact he's made way more errors then any other SS in the last 3 years. We couldn't even let Marcus Semien play SS because we were afraid to hurt Bo's feelings because he thinks he's an SS.

He's also made it pretty clear money is big objective.

In my book, that's pretty prima donna.

Can't beat the Yankees "B" team, pathetic.
Hernandez could have thrown out Donaldson at home in the first, he was pretty shallow in right when he caught that fly ball.
Vladdy leads majors in GIDP.
Luckily TB lost.

I hate sloppy baseball. Buck, Joe and Caleb where spot on with their criticism last night. 3rd year players on a contending team should know how to slide. Charging out of the batters box should be automatic. Outfielders coming into a high fly ball have to take charge and call off infielders who are moving back. Bichette has to learn how to throw on the run or change positions. I keep expecting him to get better defensively but it's not happening.
Keep in mind this is stuff players should learn in the minor leagues. Some of the current Jays came up throught the Blue Jay farm system, where one of their managers was the current Blue Jay manager.

I can't see the Astros making it easy for the Rays this weekend. Jays and Rays both have three to play vs the Bosox.

All of the Rays' remaining games are on the road, possibly including the postseason. Seattle's just half a game behind the Rays now, with just home games vs the A's and Tigers, after tonight's tilt vs the Rangers. They're probably too far back to overtake the Jays, but that's what the 1964 Phillies and 1987 Jays said, among others.

Jeff Blair said on the Fan590 that if they play the Yankees in a 5 game series, he sees them beating them three straight.

Kevin Barker was silent trying to digest that, lol.

Listen the Jays have the talent to do that for sure but they don't show it. Cimber's follies last night were amateurish. And has been mentioned Hernandez had Donaldson dead at the plate with a decent throw. The lack of fundamentals and discipline by Toronto in the last few games is alarming.

HaHa!!!! I was listening when he said it. I just about fell off the couch. It started with Barker saying if there is one thing this past series showed us it's that the Yankees are the better team. Blair said no, and then went on to say what you already summarized. After Barker's initial silence he disagreed. I was still on the floor. HaHaHa!!!

Jays and Rays each have 6 games left. Jays' magic number for #1 wild card is 5 with 12 games to be played.

Cleveland has been on fire this month (though they are in a weak division). They now have the third best record in the AL.

There are only 5 teams with a winning record against the east - Yankees, Rays, Jays, Twins and Astros. Twins are 18-16 and the Astros are 15 - 14.

Another stat I look at is if a team has played better than .500 ball across all divisions as well as home and away records - Only the Yankees, Astros and Jays have done this. The Astros and Jays have similar home and away records whereas the Yankees have a dominant home record and are only 3 games above .500 on the road.

Jays will lose the first WC spot, maybe it's best for Jay's to have 3rd WC, cuz they ain't gonna beat TB at the Trop.
Do you still think so? They are 1.5 up on Seattle and 2 up on Tampa. I'm not saying that they will win. Just saying that almost a week later, they are still in the driver's seat after series against Tampa and NY.

They have better chance of beating Guardians in Cleveland.
As it stands, they are hosting Seattle.

And he bitched so much that he worked harder, moved up in the order and has been probably their most consistent batter since by a long shot.

He is leading the AL, if not MLB, in hits, is top 10 in RBIs, has set a record for hits in a month and has a good chance of being player of the month.

Every player and every team goes through ups and downs in a 162 game. So many people have trouble realizing/accepting that. It was just a few weeks ago that Oracle claimed that the Yankees are a bad team because of a mid-season slump. They will win the best division in baseball by 5-10 games.

Prima donnas expect everybody to fawn over them and have everything given to them because of their innate talent.

Bo took the demotion to heart and worked harder to get back to the standards that he'd previously set for himself. He worked through his issues on his own. He knows that nothing will be given to him like a prima donna's expectations. I don't recall any comments to the media by Bo about being critical of Schneider moving him down in the lineup. He knew that it was gonna be up to him to change things.

Prima Donna
A strongly temperamental person who presents him or herself as moody or irritable and expresses erratic / unpredictable behavior that is not accepted well by the general public.

A person who is vain and consider themselves too good to do certain tasks and live under conditions they consider inadequate.

That is NOT the way Bo acted.

The kid sulks when things don't go his way period. It was WELL documented he got all pissy when moved to 7th spot. EVERYONE knew Marcus Semien was a better SS then him, but he couldn't play that spot because Bo cried about it. Yes, that's a prima donna attitude.

You know what a good pro does??

If they get moved in the batting line up, they keep there mouth shut and let their play do the talking.

For the betterment of the team, he would have slid over to second and let the veteran and more accomplished SS in Marcus Semien play there, as opposed to his self centered attitude because he wantd to be the sexy short stop despite the evidence he's bad at the position.

He's a good player and he's a community person, but needs to check his ego.
