Not necessarily. They are on par with those teams so it will be who is the hottest of those teams over the rest of the season.

They are currently leading all of those teams.
The Jays are not hot now and I see no indication they will be hot going forward. They are horrible with runners on base and just can't win any series against .500+ teams, period.

The Jays give me the impression that they don't really care if they qualify for post season play when they give Kikuchi the ball every 5 starts.

If Stripling is as effective on his return from the IL, as he was before his hip strain I think Mitch White might take over Kikuchi's spot. If he doesn't than things will continue to look bad for The Jays.

Apple TV again, great game by Gausman.

Congratulations to Vladdy on becoming the youngest player to reach 500 hits...and not being a Pete Rose. Had he charged into 3rd base, he would have put the prone Josh Donaldson on the IR. He let up, injuring a respected ex-Jay would have been brutta figura.

Correction: he is the youngest Jay to reach 500 hits. There are players who did it at 21 but they are all from a different era (Ty Cobb, Mel Ott and Al Kaline), the only modern player who did it faster was A-Roid.

If Jays can sweep the Yanks this weekend, they'll only be 6 games back, finishing first in AL East doesn't seem too far fetched now.
Kuchi gone to the Pen, Stripling, Berrios, Gausman, and Manoah pitching great lately, White has potential to be a very good 5th starter. Go Jays!

LOL@Bobofette, in game 1 vs Yanks, he swung and missed on a pitch that almost literally bounced way outside to the catcher, he's 1 for 9, no BB and struck out 4 times in this Yank series, so far, bench the little brat , move Espy to SS, put Merrifeld at 2nd base.

Jays are only 8.0 games behind the Yankees. I think I see Oracle starting to sweat!!!!
I think that they're on a 12-25 run.
I think the Yankees are 9-17 since the break....Yikes.

When heralded but largely unknown set up man Michael King went down for the year it was bad news. Chad green their other star set up guy was already out for the year after hurting his elbow earlier on in the season. Compile that with the fall of Chapman and Loaisiga and they have four key components missing or not performing in their bullpen. Now Clay Holmes was lights out the first half so that helped but he's now injured with a bad back.

GM Brian Cashman's major deadline acquisitions have been busts. Benintendi and Montas have not been good at all.

All year long Donaldson and Hicks have been major disappointments. Issah Kiner Falafa is a light hitting shortstop who grades out just okay defensively. Their backup catch Higashioka can barely hit his weight.

So the reality is Judge was playing other worldly and was being complimented by Rizzo and LeMahieu. That was pretty much their offense. And let's be honest Yankee Stadium inflates all their homerun totals. So don't look at stats to much. Oh forgot Stanton had a good run in the first half and the now gone for the year Matt Carpenter was lightening in a bottle as they say. Stanton has an achilles problem and they have been vague about the time table of his return.

Yankees starting pitching comes down to two you can usually depend on Cole and Cortes. After that it's inconsistent as all can be.

Bottom line after all that typing. The Jays I feel position by position except for Judge and Cole have a better lineup at present. If the Jays play to their abilities I wouldn't be shocked if they pulled off a major comeback. In truth I love the city and team so would be very happy for the supporters on here.

Good summary and in line with what the commentators are saying.

Buying vets like JD and expecting a MVP season is always risky. That said, the Yanks looked pretty damn good earlier this year and I thought that they might compete for the single season win record.

Judge is straight-up fucking brilliant in all aspects of the game. And I don't say that easily about a Yankee.

Great win! 7 games back now.

Captain Kirk-clutch double!!!

LOL moment: Tapia looked like he was being chased by a grizzly bear as he scored with Vladdy right at his heels.

Sweep tomorrow with Manoah pitching!

Bobofette: 0 for 4 and an error

I'm liking Bradely Jr. in a Jay uniform.

Jays got their ace on the mound tomorrow.....what could go wrong?

Who's Bobofett, I prefer Bo Bo Brazil.

It hasn't been a good year for Bichette and he's feeling it, Dante is right, his 2021 swing was too violent. He would have thrown out his back. He'll bounce back next year.

Gerrit Cole loses to the Jays again, they've placed a Ma Ma Monkey on his back.

Mitch White did what was needed. He gave the Jays a chance to win. That is all you need from a #5 starter to be competitive. So far he's proven to be a huge upgrade from Kikuchi. Cudos to Stipling for stopping the losing streak, starting this winning streak, and sparking fellow starters.
