No. I think what they do is wait and make a trade because there's no good FA's out there.
There are good FA's in particular Bauer who they are reportedly still interested in.
Also Walker and Shoemaker who I wouldn't mind seeing back.
All at the right price of course.
Trades would likely involve giving up Gurriel and/or Hernandez which I really don't want them to do.

Brantley staying in Houston.
Brantley was an afterthought at best and would have plugged in as a LF / DH for a couple of years, allowing Jays to deal one of their 3 OF's for pitching. The fact he resigned is a minor setback.

Highly doubt Bauer is coming here. Walker and Shoemaker aren't type of pitchers were talking about here. We're talking about a bonified ace.

You have no idea what a team will be looking for at the trade deadline. Lots of teams trade away for minor league prospects that are in rebuild mode and looking to dump salary.

I'd rather see a prospect and Grichuk with some salary compensation for an arm rather than Gurriel for an arm.

Free agent Marcus Semien in agreement with Toronto Blue Jays on one-year, $18M deal.

Nice move. This gives them a lot of depth and versatility and options.

Where does Bichette play? Can he play outfield? It looks like Rowdy is gone. Package him with Gurriel for a big arm? Vlady a full time DH?

How many days until training camp?

Bichette plays short. Semien plays 2B. Biggio and Vlad platoon at 3B. Vlad and Tellez platoon at 1B / DH.

Singer, Gurriel, Hernandez and Grichuk play OF and one can rotate thru DH.There's an obvious problem here, as you have 4 top end / top pay talents for 3 spots. The obvious slash is Tellez, as that frees up a DH spot to keep the 4 OF bats in the lineup every game.

That move won't be made until the trade dead line, so no point in speculating right now.
Purely speculation. Why go into the season with an OF where 1 of Gurriel, Grich or Teoscar will be benched?

You risk Grichuk regressing to his career mean coming off of a good season. Trade him while his value is high

And his contract may also be a bit high. Jays may have to eat part of it.

I would rather deal Grich than Gurriel or Teoscar.

OTOH, Teoscar too might regress at the plate and his fielding has always been inconsistent.

For sure Gurriel is the keeper of the three. Most versatile and still probably has the most upside.

It goes both ways, he might have a good season and have higher value. That's not even the issue. They need a solid starter and that's what they will be looking for. No teams are going be sellers at the start of the year.

By MLB standards, 10 mill isn't too bad for what Grich provides. We can't keep one of the extra 3 outfielders for a DH as our DH spot full with Rowdy/Vlad.
