Can someone explain to me how the fuck Alek Manoah gets suspended and Montoyo gets a game as well?

I don't understand. Guys get thrown at all the time. There's times when it's even more obvious then his was and worst case, they get thrown out of the game.

I think this rule applies specifically to incidents of pitchers throwing at batters. If the pitcher gets suspended for it then the manager gets a suspension as well. I have no idea if the number of games the pitcher gets affects the manager's sentence.

Seeing as pitchers start every 5th game, both guys effectively miss one game.

The unusual thing was that no warnings were given prior to the ejection. Usually both benches get warned, meaning the managers are supposed to control their pitchers, which is why the manager also gets a game.

I know that's what I don't understand, and how can they even prove Manoah did it on purpose??? That wasn't a flat fast ball, it tailed away. Not that Manoah doesn't have the skill to cause a fast ball to run in on someone, just saying very hard to prove. The screwed up about baseball when teams start hitting each other, I've seen so many times where the original pitcher hit someone gets the warning, then when the oppositions teams beans a batter to settle the score, he gets thrown out. So the first pitcher gets away with it, but the second pitcher gets tossed for getting even??? Bull shit. I don't recall seeing a guy get thrown out right away though, then suspended.

You're right. They can't prove it and there was no lead up. But the league is judge and jury and they decide.

I think what they went on (if I recall properly, big if) is that Manoah had just given up 2 homers and he hit the next batter with the 1st pitch. That is taken as a sign that it was intentional. Then right after he hit him, Manoah walked towards home in a fairly aggressive manner. We also don't know what was said as he was walking towards home but he was saying something.

Was it Buck and Pat calling the game? Whoever it was, was equally baffled. We'll see what happens with the appeal.

It was Shulman for sure, and I think Pat. The only thing I could think of is he said something as he walked towards the plate, but I mean it was Franco who starred him down and with a gesture towards the mound first.

For those of us who remember Blue Jays reliever Joe Smith, this was the return:

Samad Taylor has a share of the double-A home run lead after hitting his 12th of the year last night.
The 22-year-old hitting .322/.392/.625 with 16 SB while playing 2B, 3B, CF, LF.

Another trade looking for good for the Shatkins administration.

I saw the clip and my impression from the body language was that it was deliberate on Manoah's part.

So The Arson Squad blow another game in humiliating fashion - they couldn't hold a four run lead against the lowly Orioles.

Our season is over.

12 runs on 15 hits today.......

1 through 7 this is about as strong a lineup as I have ever seen.

I'm not a Jays fan per say but have a soft spot for them just the same. This is one exciting team with a bright future.

They need a front line starter and a reliever though. Maybe a third baseman as well.

I've been following the Twins this year. They are horrid and should be sellers.

I wonder if they could pry Jose Berrios loose or maybe Michael Pineda. Josh Donaldson has been productive but streaky maybe he could be a fit at third. That calf is still a problem from time to time it seems. Would love to see Donaldson in that lineup though.

Teams are asking too much for reliever so Jays say no which they should Giving up the future for a reliever for a few weeks is stupid

I say a few weeks because that is when our relievers start getting healthy also pearson is a candidate for reliever

The price will come down as the trading deadline nears

third base is a problem because the Jays paid a team to take Donaldson off our hands but he is handicapped by calf injuries

as soon as springer starts hitting this is the best hitting team in baseball

yes we really need a number two starter

consider where we would be without vlad, definitely out of it

right now we are looking good for wildcard because we get a weaker schedule from now on

Jays creep by the Yanks by 1/2 game into 3rd.

5 games behind the 2nd wild card.

I have faith they can get 2nd wild card, season is only half over, Once Springer gets his timing back, and Merryweather, Borucki and Hatch are healthy, bullpen will be better.
Yup. That's the best batting order in baseball. They just need more consistent pitching. Hell, they didn't even need Springer back. Without him, they STILL had the best lineup in baseball.

Jays send Joe Panik to Marlins in multiplayer trade

Cimber is having a decent year, good era at 2.88 , decent WHIP at 1.2, hopefully he can shore up disasterous bullpen.

I'm looking at the box score for the game against Seattle tonight and something is bugging me.

Reese McGuire had 4 at bats, 4 plate appearances, 1 hit, zero walks, zero stolen bases. But he somehow managed to score 2 runs.
The Seattle Mariners had zero fielding errors.
So, my question is... how did he manage to score 2 runs.

He can reach on a fielder's choice. And then score any number of ways.
