I was just about to say the same thing. The Jays have gotten worse each year with shapeero in his comfort zone hiring his "yes men" from his prior Cleveland days, where they also accomplished nothing. The name that I've heard that interests me the most would be Sandy Alomar Jr.
Alomar jr. is my pick from that group too. If AA was still here and a list leaked out you would know those were the guys that are out of the running!

Alomar jr.
No intention of picking on you in particular, but that is a pet peeve of mine and I am seeing it more and more.

His last name is Alomar, not Alomar Jr. If it is with the junior, it means his children and siblings will have a different last name than he. He has the same last name as his brother Robbie and his father Sandy and that is Alomar.

Now, he is the second Alomar to have the first name of Sandy. That is why it is Jr. Davis Love III is the third Love to be named Davis. But his last name is Love, the same as his kids, siblings, his paternal uncles and paternal cousins.

Actually, he was the first one that I saw his name on the leaderboard as Love III. It has become rampant but it is wrong. You can only use Jr. or III when you include the first name.

Sorry for the rant and diversion, but it is a real peeve and this has been the first chance I've had to voice it. I think I feel a bit better now..

So where does Gibby end up? Atlanta? Baltimore? Bench coach?
Back to the minors. He's a sub par baseball manager.

Final record 73-89. Pretty much where I saw us ending up as I predicted 74-88 on March 31 in another thread.

Cup half full
Continued progression of Vlad Jr. as a budding superstar. Jim Bowden is on record as saying he has not seen a hitter this advanced at such a young age since the days of Griffey Jr.
Kendrys 7 game HR streak. 1 off the MLB record.
Devon Travis stayed somewhat healthy.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats won the AA Eastern League Championship. Swept the semifinals and finals.
Finished 5th in MLB with 217 HR.
Rated in the top 3 MLB farm systems.

Cup half empty
Kevin Pillar was our top hitter (min 500 AB) with a .252 batting average. Putrid.
Finished 27th best ERA in baseball. Disastrous.
Sanchez can't stay healthy. And when he was healthy he couldn't control the strike zone.
Stroman pissed coming into the season because lost arbitration. Seriously Blue Jays you took him to arbitration over $300K?
Russel Martin has forgotten how to hit.
Josh Donaldson, the 2015 AL MVP was traded for a player to be named later. Turned out to be a mid level prospect recovering from Tommy John.
Troy Tulowitzki. $20M salary. Nuff said.

Whatever the fuck that supposed to mean....
He's not as good as the average MLB manager. He's not a tactician. He lacks baseball intellect. I've heard him interviewed on MLB radio several times. He sounds out to lunch. He doesn't motivate or prepare his players well enough. What I do like about him is he has their backs reflected in the number of ejections from games. And he's an all around good guy who you want to cheer for.

Career records as a manager

Minor leagues: 542-500
Major leagues: 794-790

Good call on the final record. I was calling for a 76 - 86 record.

Additional positives:

* Gurriel Jr. almost broke the multiple hit game streak (had he not got injured)
* Rowdy may surprise as a hitter in the bigs (September numbers are difficult to believe) but definitely a fan favorite
* Russell Martin has lost it so we do not need to keep playing him
* Jose Bautista proved he was washed up so we did not need to waste money signing him

Additional negatives:

* Russel Martin cannot throw out runners
* Losing Osuna
* Drop in attendance

I think Gibby himself suggested Clapp should be his replacement. I'd even throw in Bobby Meacham and John Schneider since they've already managed the guys who are coming up.

I think the loss of Osuna may be countered somewhat by the addition of Giles.

Couple of other positives are Grichuk recovering from an awful start as the season progressed and the emergence of a new generation of potential starting pitchers with Reid-Foley, Borucki and Pannone.

^^^^^ it is, except Giles didnt join the Jays until late in the season.

Anywho, Yanks vs. BoSox is gonna be a fascinating matchup

At first I thought Grichuk was going to be a huge bust, but he has the potential to be a very good outfielder.

When the Bosox jumped out to a 3 - 0 lead I wasn't convinced the game was over like in the other series. Too much firepower with each team in a good hitting ballpark.

Here
Interesting statistic: in the Astros/Indians series, 5 former Blue Jays are on the field...

David Price annual salary:

2018: 30 million
2019: 31 million
2020: 32 million
2021: 32 million
2022: 32 million

His postseason record is: 2-9 with a 5.28 ERA. At this point I would put him in the pen and start Eovaldi
