And here is where Shapeero has the Jays

It seems like a lot of what-ifs, maybes and who knows.

https://www.thestar.com/sports/blue...ve-pieces-to-deal-if-the-return-is-right.html

I liked these two paragraphs:

The Jays entered last off-season talking about getting younger and more athletic after bowing out to the Cleveland Indians in the 2016 ALCS. But the starting nine position players that saw the most Blue Jays action in 2017 included just two players younger than 30, while the team total of 53 stolen bases demonstrated the lead-footedness of the roster. But Atkins begged to differ when asked about the Jays’ lumbering, middle-aged image.
“We did become younger and athletic,” Atkins said. “Our (minor-league) system went from, objectively, 24th to ninth.”
That Triple-A team, according to the GM, could include the likes of outfielders Anthony Alford, Dalton Pompey, Dwight Smith — “We’ll see with Teoscar Hernandez,” Atkins said — infielders Richard Urena, Lourdes Gurriel and Rowdy Tellez, catchers Dan Jansen and Reese McGuire, and left-handers Ryan Borucki and Tom Pannone.
The potential gems of the system are a little further away: infielders Vladimir Guerrero, Bo Bichette and Logan Warmoth, and right-hander Nate Pearson.
“That’s younger and more athletic,” Atkins said.

With a spin like that Sarah Sanders may lose her job as press secretary.

It’s a revelation to examine the Jays’ farm system and count the number of talented young players that can be viewed as trade inventory. The flurry of trades by former GM Alex Anthopoulos in July, 2015, robbed the upper levels of depth, but there was always the feeling that when the younger prospects developed the farm system would be re-stocked. That has happened.

All that rhetoric about AA draining the team was bullshit. Young talent is a renewable resource and AA would have had more pieces to play with while the big team stayed competitive even with shapeero doing nothing.

I wonder how long (the new?) owners will put up with Shapiro

I'd guess it will come down to the $$$ that come into their pockets. Either through on field success (I am not holding my breath) or if he gets the payroll down low enough for Rogers to get some motivated buyers.

The article mentioned that Sanchez may be too much of a health risk for most teams, so he may be safe and the article also said that Stro is untouchable
That was just my statement (and opinion) in general, not related to the link

Because, if they sell, then to get maximum return they have to sell it as a going concern rather than as parts in a basket that the buyer has to piece together... which is the way they once used to sell stolen bikes (do they still do that?)!

Hey nugget,

Nobody here cares about your useless opinions. Why don’t you go participate in the curling thread? Way more up your ally.

Yes AA is hard at work. George Poulis has been named Braves Head athletic trainer. So far, to my knowledge, no replacement has been named in Toronto. Seems to me that in Oct. Toronto dumped a number of employees that would have been part of that department. Wonder who else AA hired from the Jays? Might be some young scouts out there whose insight AA respected.
Shack I post this with dry cereal and my utmost respect for you!

I figured. Since you brought up the concern I just mentioned what the article said in relation to those two.

I did not know about the defections. AA gave the organization a family feel to it. Lots of loyalty.

I've found milk works well if you don't want the cereal completely dry. No side effects unless you are lactose intolerant. ;)

Yanks working hard to obtain Machado, by the time Cashman is finished the Yanks will be virtually unbeatable in the East. Jays simply will not be able to field a team that can compete with a team filled with all stars.

You could, but it would have to be with unbelievable pitching, both starting pitching and crazy bullpen.

Shapeero is a miserly cunt
If he can somehow end us up in a wild card spot with all his wheeling and dealing, all will be forgiven. If not, the knives are coming out dammit!!! :frusty:

EDIT: he has yet to do any wheeling and dealing.....LOL

He hasn't done any wheeling and dealing in over 2 years so far. Maybe he will re-sign Goins and we will be on our way.

Perry the useless nugget will explain to us how it doesn't matter, it's about how John Gibbons can't motivate them to win. Isn't that right nugget?

Rays traded Longoria to the Giants. He is the Jays killer for years in the division. One less player to worry about. Yay!
I'd have preferred if they traded him out of the division 10 years ago.
