Joey Votto has full no trade protection, and has shown no desire to leave Cincinnati.
When a sports franchise is for sale, they tend to eliminate or at least reduce large obligations.
Why would the Blue Jays (Rogers) take on at minimum $157,000,000 (at most, $170,000,000) in obligations over the next 7 seasons?

Get rid of Morales and replace him with Votto. Votto can play first and DH. Need to find powers somehow to match with the bronx bombers for next season.

Jays have a deep prospect pool but with too many guys years away from the majors. So in trade talks it's kinda difficult to make things work if everyone is asking for the BIG TWO. They are both very close to MLB-ready which is what every team is looking for. Many teams are trying accelerated rebuild-retooling these days, they don't want to wait 5 years to rebuild and lose fans along the way.
