This team had this whole country supporting them. Had they spent money, it would have translated into money because people would still be filling the stadium and viewership will still be sky high.
A sentiment I have expressed along with my belief that AA would have kept the ball rolling.

Trade Vlad or Bichette?
Just curious. We are all placing a high value on these guys.

Has anybody here actually seen them play on even a semi-regular basis and see some progression first hand or are we mainly going by Jays' hype and the opinions of others?

I haven't, I must admit.

But I echo what someone said a little earlier - Baseball is almost impossible to predict. Prospects don't pan out frequently. Stars suddenly "find it" and come out of nowhere - i.e. Bautista in 2009. Stars suddenly and unexpectedly fade - i.e. Bautista in 2017. Guys have 1 great season and then go back to mediocrity. And vice versa.

Take 2017. Jays were supposed to have a killer offence and a great starting staff and no pen. The exact opposite took place. It's all wait and see what happens on the field.

So I am quite happy they kept Bichette and VGjr. It's as good / bad a gamble as dealing them.

Trade Vlad or Bichette? There had better be something awesome coming this way if you do! Don't see it happening and don't want it to happen. As long as they continue to produce at a high level as they move up through the system they should be all but untouchable!

No I have not seen them play, and doubt you have either! We are placing a high value on these guys because to date, their numbers are very good and we really don't have many players in the systems whose numbers are very good. Jays pitching should be ok if they stay healthy. Outside of pitching there is Donaldson and he was hurt a lot last year. Smoak had a career year, he might or might not repeat. Every other position player either was inconsistent, hurt or sucked. If you trade Vlad or Bichette what are you going to get that is going to make you good enough to get to and win some playoff games in 2018?

I dont see how we could watch them play on a regular basis since minor L. games arent being televised up here in Toronto

Stats paint a pretty good picture , when u see the numbers they’ve put up and their fast progression so far , especially at their young age it’s hard not to get excited. Vernon Wells might have been the last Jays prospect to get this much attention this young.

There are videos of Vlad Jr on YouTube, you’ll see he does not have the prototypical uppercut swing of a slugger. He hits nothing but line drives and they can go 400 ft +. Think Dave Winfield. He also walks more than he strikes out which is rare for a minor league prospect. Bichette profiles the same hitting approach but with less power. Contact hitters are exactly what the Jays need, good things happen when you put the ball in play. How many runners did the Jays strand this year swinging for the fences all the time? They were among the league leaders in runners left on base.

Many very respectable baseball insiders and experts who do this for a living are in awe of these 2. The generational tag has been mentioned . Keith Law of ESPN named Vlad the 2017 prospect of the year. And Bichette was a runner up. Keith Law almost never says anything good about the Jays LOL

I would only trade them for a legit franchise player controllable for several years on a decent contract.
For Mookie Betts maybe. Definitely not for Ozuna.

One rumor was that CC Sabathia would sign with the Jays earlier this week. Nah. He signed back with the Yanks for one year,10mil. The only player the Yanks need right now is..Donaldson to play 3B. Might as well and fold the tent and wait for 2020! LOL

Who pissed in your cereal this morning? It was a straight forward question. I was curious if anyone had a closer first hand look at them.

If you noticed, I said "on an even semi-regular basis". Sad that you couldn't understand that I was pre-acknowledging that it would be difficult.

BTW, maybe you don't know, but people do go down to Florida to watch some spring training games. I want to be helpful to you:

I listen and watch a lot of sports.

There is a change they trade Bo as Vlad seems more ready and a more rare generational talent.

Baseball is quite unpredictable true, but so far it seems they are just going to wait it out as they left 5he meetings with nothing.

Anybody catch Stromans response from not getting CC? It’s along the lines of him not needing a mentor. He is feisty which is good on the field and bad on Twitter.

Not just difficult, it would impossible unless you wanna hop on a plane to one of his minor league games.
And spring training games are never a reliable indicator of how good someone is, in fact they can be downright deceiving.

Just admit you asked a stupid question so we can move on

Not at all stupid. As you noticed, I got several responses which were intelligent and respectful, qualities that some people seem to lack and for some reason are also proud to display that they are lacking them.

Time to move on.

There is some of Vlad Jr. but not a whole lot. A lot of it is BP which doesnt tell us anything:

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vlad+jr.+guerrero

Right now he's at Advanced A ball which means he's probably at least 2 years away still from playing in Toronto. Also he had a horrible winter league season in the D.R. hitting .213 with 0Hr's and 6 ribbies in 90 AB's, but thats maybe because he was injured

Going by your posts this morning, somebody did indeed pee in someones cereal, but it wasnt Dawgger's

I read somewhere that many minor L. players have trouble adjusting to winter ball leagues because pitchers throw a few MPH slower and this can mess with their timing.

Teoscar Hernandez also struggled in Dominican L. last year
