The Air Show was fantastic! The machines and pilots were amazing! I want to be a fighter pilot when I grow up.

BTW: Heard the Jays lost 5-0. They could have used some of those fighter jets. From the outside it looked like the roof was closed to-day.

Well, the reason attendance is up is because we believed all the hype that we did have a contending team!

Had we believed the team would be the same-old-same-old, I think attendence would have decreased.

Perry
Well Perry I think that the fans saw a few months ago that this team isn't what it was cracked up to be but they are still coming out.

And I give it to them for supporting their team.

Just think if this team was leading their division what the attendance would be.

I still cannot believe that the Jays were favored to win a World Series this year (2013).
They need to bring back Roberto Alomar, Kelly Gruber, Joe Carter, and Cito Gaston! :)
For what possible purpose?

By the way, Gaston & Alomar are employees of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Here
Well, to be fair, remember that, for A.A., this is a 3 year "window" of opportunity for post season participation.

OK, so the first year is a bust (no, not that kind favored here!) but perhaps something has and can be learned in the month that remains to help for the next 2 years.

Lawrie's "settling down" and Goins' emergence could be huge... and if Rasmus can continue to improve as he was doing prior to being injured, then that means a catcher and starting pitching are the remaining concerns.

Judging by his offensive production, Arencibia is much better than he is given credit for -- though he needs to improve his defence.

As for pitching, Hutchison, Drabek and even Redmond have potential for the 4 and 5 spots; Buehrle and Dickey seem to be improving and can fill the 2 and 3 slots; that leaves the need for an Ace, but there are lots of bullpen arms that can be traded to fill that spot.

"Hope springs eternal in the human breast..." :biggrin1:

I'd move Bautista and Cabrera in a heartbeat for some quality starting pitching

What 'quality' pitching do you think you're going to get for Cabrera?

Tim Lincecum is a free agent, no? Sign him to a large 2 year contract. He's far better than the ERA posted this season & may be looking for a change of scenery.

Free agent Chris Carpenter may also be open to coming back to Toronto... Bronson Arroyo is also a FA but the Jays would need a miracle to land him!

Jose Bautista shut down for the season ... Is this an annual September tradition ?
Damn! There goes the pennant run!!

Doesn't really matter. It gives them an opportunity to audition their 3 OF call-ups without worrying about giving Jose time to hit his milestones, etc.

I say blow the team up and start over again like the Astos and Marlins have done. Trade everybody for a whack of top prospects and wait for the team to develop. Why spend over $100 million to have a shit team and record when you can accomplish the same with a $30 million payroll.

We had this debate earlier in the season. Many TERBIes believe that baseball is a dangerous high risk sport.
1) Running to 1B -- high risk of injury.
2) Sliding into 2B --- high risk of injury.
3) Bending over to pick up balls at 3B -- high risk of injury.
4) Swinging a bat --- high risk of injury.
5) Celebrating a HR ---- high risk of injury.

thank god or whoever that we have the genius Gibbons for next year....so he can switch pitchers in middle of innings..take out somewhat experienced for not experienced....have a pitcher hit for himself and then take him out of game any way. Small mercy were not in national league cuz figuring out pinch hitting and double switching might take a couple seasons. And now he should let these guys work out of innings regardless of matchups, Also I wonder if Goins was in double play position, he might have turned that ball ....

Yes, last night's game shows how the manager influences results. I guess he was more interested in how the pitcher would perform than winning the game.

This is not fair to the other teams, especially the contending teams. The Jays have an obligation to try to win all their remaining games.

BTW: How did Bautista acquired his latest injury?

Right, no one made any of those claims, clear proof you're memory is failing. Remember, first the hands, and then the mind.
