How good is Derek Jeter? After 17 years in MLB he is 3rd in hits trailing only Pete Rose and Ty Cobb. With Cobb one has to remember he never faced a Black pitcher (e.g. Bob Gibson, David Price, etc.) or relief pitching specialists.

Wrong.

Are you ever right, rocky? :caked:

Jeter is 13th, that's thirteenth on the all time MLB hit list. :blabla:

He's more than 1000 hits behind Rose.

Despite your rudeness, I will respond for the benefits of other TERBies. If not clear, I was referring to their first 17 years in MLB and not for their entire career. The leader after 17 years is Rose followed by Cobb followed by Jeter. By the time Jeter retires he could be 3rd overall or even higher as he does takes care of his body and could play into his 40's.

No rudeness, just fact.

That's not what you wrote, had you meant what you claim in your 2nd statement, you should have written something along the lines of:

'For players in their 1st 17 years in MLB, Derek Jeter stands 3rd, behind only Rose & Cobb.'

Why does Sunil Joshi always say: "Tell you all about it now". Why can't he tell us all about it now without always saying he will tell us all about it now? Thank goodness Lance and Joe don't do that.

boy...think its time to send Romero down to trple A to work out the kinks. Cant even throw a strike anymore. Problem is we don't have to many pitchers left...lol.

This is going to be a very interesting off season to see how all this shapes up for next year.

Minor league (including AAA) season ends at the end of August. Good news is that Morrow is supposed to be back soon.

Not sure if the Las Vegas team is in playoff hunt. If they are, that may give Romero some time down there.

I agree that it's time to take him out of the spot light and just allow him to take some time to work things out not under a microscope. If he can come back to form, the Jays starting 5 next year can actually be better than what we had to start with this year. If Romero can come back to form, he'll be joined by Morrow, I'll actually give Villanueva a shot at starting full time next year. Happ has done decently, and between Hutchinson (if he comes back), Alverez and Laffey they can fight for the last spot. Better yet, AA can get another proven arm.

The bullpen has upgraded for sure. With Santos back next year and hopefully healthy...he and Jansen can split the setup/save duties.

This season is an unmitigated disaster. Tell you all about it now. Do we at least get a high draft when the season is over?

Our draft will be in the middle, where going to finish.
Only 6 teams across the MLB with worse records. Given the way the team is now playing they will most likely finish with an even worse record. Consequently, they should therefore get a good pick.

I think there are more problems in the BJ's organization than can be explained away by injuries.

Yes they have had a very unfortunate run of injuries... which revealed that the depth they thought they had is not quite as deep as they thought: unless he is hiding an injury, Romero needs a brain transplant; Alvarez can't focus; Gose and Hechavarria can't hit; Beck, Carpenter, Carreno, Cecil, Chavez, Carpernter -- who knows; Escobar and Kelly MIA on offence; Lind looks like a health liability; Rasmus still very much a work-in-progress...

Some bright spots, too: Janssen, Oliver, Jenkins, Loup, Dalabar, Sierra, Gomes and, of course, Encarnacion...

Bah! There is no point trying to whip a dead horse... :frusty:

But I hope they remain at least entertaining for the rest of the season.

Wait till next year... déjà vu all over again!

agree with you on Cooper. I wonder if there were any offers for him at the trade deadline. Decent at first and will improve and he can hit. I guess he doesn't have the power that teams want from a first baseman/DH. Unless the Jays can trade Lind Cooper probaly doesn't have a home here next year.

I think we can be a bit more positive about the offence. Up until Bautista got injured, the Jays had one of the top offences in the MLB. That top 4 of Lawrie, Rasmus, Bautista and Encarnacion was looking quite special once Rasmus started to find his form. Arencibia and Davis were also going well.

Would agree though that Kelly and Escobar have been disappointing in terms of their offence.

Yes, I forgot about Cooper... definitely a bright spot. And I think he has power, but that takes time and lots of at bats to come out.

Not so sure.

They do have lots of problems including their "depth" being too young However until the injuries, they were right there. Almost every team has some problems (aside from injuries) and I'm sure if we read their fan discussion boards they will have similar concerns/complaints to ours.

biggest problem now appears to be starting pitching, it looked so solid early then the injuries decimated it and Romero and Alvarez fell apart. Morrow returns this weekend, lets hope that goes well. Bautista and his bat are back too. Bautista's return helps all the bats as the opposition pitches the whole team differently when he is in the line up.

Yea... but can they go 36 and 3 the rest of the way? :D

Otherwise Larry King is going to be looking pretty bad!

Although, if they can go 36 and 3, Larry King will be looking pretty good!
