Just a small point, it's Tommy John surgery. It's not too hard to confuse some people on here.
Thank you for clearing that up, officer.

Despite the false hype the Jays weren't a playoff team with all five starters healthy. They are now guaranteed the cellar. You can't compete in the AL East on a consistent basis with a 70 million dollar payroll. Rogers should sell the team if they don't have an interest in winning. Toronto fans deserve better.
Absolutely correct. They were a .500 team before these injuries and that was their best case scenario going into this year. HOW MANY PLAYERS DO THEY HAVE WHO ARE ABOVE AVERAGE AT THEIR POSITION - OFFENCE AND DEFENCE COMBINED? Bautista in RF and Encarnacion at 1st about it. BELOW Avg. - 2nd - ss -LF. Romero is NOT an ace. I would rate the starting piching as average at best with no depth in case of injuries. The BP is below avg. as well. How does this tranlate into being an above average team in the AL East? The injuries will now become an excuse. This is what you get when you try to compete in this division on the cheap.

Kelly Johnson is above average with the bat, and very very good defensively.

That's interesting but not that surprising. Big surprise is Baltimore's continued success but will it last?

Seems likely that AL East will provide the 2 WC teams. Jays 3 out of that position but Boston are not finished yet.

BP has been much stronger recently and batting is improving with Bautista, Rasmus and Davies finding more form, Lawrie maintaining his, and with Cooper replacing Lind. They have also found ways of winning some interleague games.

Obviously the big test over the next few weeks is how successful are they going to be with covering for the three missing starters.

I beg to differ. He is avg. at best in both fielding and hitting. He had a good run early in the year but has come back to earth.

Where are Buck Martinez & Greg Zaun? Have not heard or seen either of them lately. Not that it's a bad thing....
Zaun was only off for a series and has been back since last week. (I hear you about Zaun, but Jose Cruz Jr was worst...)

Johnson has had a pulled hamstring lately and it has affected his play.

So I wouldn't include the last stretch in any evaluation of him as a player.

Third inning against the Brewers and all I can say is the Jays pitching staff is truly pathetic. This is a last place team without doubt.

Seems like whenever I post anything negative about Jays, they turn around and win. Guees I should do it more often.lol. Great comeback win though against one of the best closers in the game.

Jays just signed a pitcher off waivers from the Angels

To bolster the bullpen, the Blue Jays claimed right-hander David Pauley off waivers from the Angels on Wednesday. Pauley has appeared in five Major League games this season, recording a 4.35 ERA in 10 1/3 innings. He is on the 40-man roster, but Toronto will need to make a move to add him to the 25-man.

Not quite the big name we need to replace Drabek, Hutchinson, and Morrow.
