So politically incorrect - love the Brits

P.S. A special mention for a British series in the 80's called MINDER.

Wow I totally forgot about Soap! That was a great show, I wonder if it's on DVD...
Soap is available on DVD, I have all 4 seasons. My daughter somehow found me burned copies of the entire WKRP series on ebay & got it for me for Xmas. Classic.:D

Huge oversight in not adding Monty PYthon's Flying Circus in my original post.

Star Trek (the original)... any series that could have a half white/half black Frank Gorshin deliver a scathing commentary on the absurdity of racism is at the top of the list. Who could imagine this happening today?

Barney Miller

I was 12 years old learning a new word or phrase every day from Dietrich. I would write them down and would look them up in the Encyclopaedia Britannica. My favourite all time series. I can't believe I still remember some of these things I heard in the show for the first time in my life... Aphorisms from Nietzsche, The Trilateral Commission, Centrifugal Force Blanche Dubois, Pedantic, etc etc.

I have to slap myself silly for not remembering that one, LOL.

There's another one called On The Buses, or something back then. It was quite funny as I recall.

Best sit-com

Three's Company

(after watching episode 113 in season 6 where Jack Goes to jail after learning some self defence moves from Terry and beat up an undercover cop thinking it was a mugging...this is a sure bet for the funniest in my books)

Best Drama-

Melrose Place

(because my mother forced it on me with her Jack Wagner obsession)

And if SNL continued its massive head wound Harry skit, I would pick SNL too. :)

Isn't it fascinating that the dominant form of entertainment on TV today - reality shows - haven't been mentioned in 5 pages (one guy did say american idol)?

My faves have already been mentioned. How about Family Guy and South Park?

I'm just in the middle of watching season 2 on DVD. John Ritter was a comedic gem (RIP). I'm also gaining a new appreciation for Norman Fell as Mr. Roper - he was friggin hilarious too! This is by far my favourite show ever.
Other faves:
Comedy: Married with Children, In Living Color
Drama: Law & Order, CSI,
