All opposing teams have to do against the Oilers is trap. With their cupcake defense, opposing teams will get plenty of chances to score. At least McDavid has Milan Lucic to protect him - a luxury Taylor Hall never had.

Yes, however he was on the ice for 4 Montreal goals and ended the night a -3. His defence needs work.
Montreal had most of their regulars in the lineup (Price, Weber, etc), while the Leafs had mostly rookies (Nylander, Marner,etc). It's pre-season. Not everything is what it seems. Leafs had Andersson in goal but he sucked. Overall the whole Leaf team was bad.
I would like to see Riley wear the C. When we had the salute gate and the captain was no where to be found, it was Riley that stood up and said that they ( the leaf players ) should suck it up and play like professionals and that it's a privilege to play in the NHL. All things the captain, at that time, should of said but it took a rookie player, a leader.

Nikita Shoshnikov took a full practice and is improving. He sustained a hamstring injury in the Marlies playoff run and, those types of injuries being what they are, it nagged throughout the summer. He'll start the season with the Marlies but eventually he'll be on Matthews line, he's the perfect fit.
