The good work that feminism has done is outweighed by the stuff the op is talking about.

EG. Toxic masculinity and an ideology about something they call the patriarchy. These things are about shaming the things on the list - honesty, hard work, independence, self-sufficiency and even sacrifice for others. These things are be labeled as harnful masculinity.

I don't want to go overboard, but the current obsession with "Safety" as a replacement for health is 1 example. There's no place for risk of any kind, not the risk of death ( not a bad thing), as well as the very low risk tolerance of infection. Well managed infection is not a bad thing, but it's certainly not worth the risk of the health issues, the risk of bankruptcy, socialization etc, that result from the risk avoidance of lockdowns.

Millennials know how to work hard, they just don't know how to work smart. It's up to us, the older generation to guide and nurture them - not look down on them. I was tough on the youngns that worked for me, knowing how rough the working world is, I had to be. Now that I've stepped back, there's nothing they can't handle.

May Chuck live to be 100!

My Grandfathers both fought in WW2 so future generations could be safe(r), and have liberties. People aren't 'weaker', they've been granted through blood, sweat, and tears of generations before, the liberty of advancement and technology. Old people just be bitter that they didn't have it as easy, instead be grateful you didn't have it as hard as those before you.

Virtues of honesty, hard work, independence, self-sufficiency and even sacrifice for others are rarely being taught or mentioned anymore.
  • Society is spoon fed everything
  • Recognition is valued above most things
  • Little work for large rewards are expected
  • Unable to take constructive criticism
  • Sense of entitlement
  • Seek easy ways out
  • Discouraged easily
What are your thoughts?
What should I do with all my participant trophies?

Seriously, blame your boomer parents for treating you well because they were treated like garbage. They learned their lesson which is why my 30-something kid and my neighbor's 50-something kid still live at home.

Are we becoming soft?

Every generation says that about the next.
You are just becoming an old curmudgeon.
Was there ever a generation until the end of the 20th century
who blamed the older generation for creating the problems they
were facing?

The Protestant Work Ethic along with many social norms have been exposed as nothing but societal conditioning. Access to information along with many more people getting undergraduate degrees have made them realize this.

Wealth inequality is being talked about now more than ever, as well as the demographics of power changing throughout western democracies.

These tech companies are slowly getting way too influential, they want to control literally everything and everyone.

Me to, except for the discouraged easily. There's an antivax rant on Youtube from a Covid ICU bed - you just can't discourage a lot of people. Sometimes, though it's best not to think about it overly much...

Everybody lives at home. Ever notice how people are becoming more densely packed? The extended family is coming back. Boomers really get a kick when grandchildren are around, as do the kids...

Doug Stanhope has a great bit on the changing generation.

Eventually the worm will turn and things will swing back the other way.

It isn't just millennials gen-xers were spoon-fed by the Baby Boomers and have just passed it on. I am a strong believer in mandatory service in the army for every Able Body person After High School. I think it would fix a lot of the self entitled attitude people seem to have today
So you would force them into slavery to the state to conform?

While we are at it lets get rid of those pesky child labour laws. Nothing like 12 hours in the sweatshop under the watchful gaze of thugs to toughen em up.....

You do realize that the generation previous to you felt the same way about you?
