My 11 old Samsung 40" blew something today and it smoked, picture was gone. I was looking at Costco and Bestbuy they had a lot of Roku TV. Hisense, TCL, Samsung. Samsung was more expensive and the salesman said that the Hisense were really good. Does anyone have experience with TV's ? I'm on a budget so I can't go for expenives Sony's. Thanks

I let go of my 35 year old Mitsubishi last year. Wanted a 4K non smart TV. Was too difficult to find so I bought an Insignia at Best Buy that only has HD but is non smart.

If your TV goes on the fritz do not have it fixed. it will cost you almost the price of a new TV. I would buy a TV with a recognized brand name. Hisense is well known and large manufacturer. January is good time to buy as the new models are coming out. Samsung electronics are often contracted out to Chinese manufacturers. Your Iphone and MAC computer, and cannon cameras are all made in China. If the price is right and it fits your need, you have the right one.

Both brands are good with Hisense the more economical while Samsung has a few more bells and whistles If you're on a budget Hisense may be the better option for you. Do a search for reviews on whatever brand/model you buy.

Yes, you have discovered our secret. Now we will turn off all you Made in China appliances remotely. Now go and buy a Made in Guatemala TV and a computer in a wood cabinet from North Korea.

TVs will be going on sale, if they haven’t already, for the Super Bowl. So you can probably save a buck or 2 on a good “name brand” TV, if it really matters to you. The “off brands” or store brands have really come a long way from the days when they were they butt of all late night talk show jokes (there’s still some bad ones). Just check the warranty/return policy at the store you buy it from, maybe some reviews online, etc. and you should be ok. I like Costco cuz you could pretty much return anything you buy from there, of course you need a membership, or know someone with one.

They are pretty good. Don't rely on them for apps or streaming though...better get the high end... I bought a 40" Hisense as a gift to my teenage son for his ps5...does the job.

Samsung are generally very reliable. A friend has a 60' Samsung plasma that is still running great since 2010. Try for 120 Hz refresh rate, 240 Hz is better but is hard to find for a good deal.
OLED is traditionally better than QLED, but there is a difference in price. Current TV's that have built in YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime video apps are very very handy.

I have a LG that is surviving 8 years,

Got a HiSense 2 years now no problems.

Bought an Samsung 3 years ago for $2400, broke after 9 months and didn’t cover warranty. Took it to a store to fix it and it would have been $400. Looked for deals and Got a Hisense that lasted 2 years.

Never buy a Samsung
