All I am saying is in the absence of any local reason, Arabic is an odd choice to pick. If you think that is anger, it says a lot more about you than it does about me.

Unlike the rest of you guys, I deal with Muslim-Canadians a lot.

There are a lot of Arab-Canadian lawyers out there, usually young. Arabs are high-achievers. Like Jews. Some of these lawyers are religiously observant and some aren't. But none of them wear fezzes or hijabs or want to blow up Christians. They just do the usual lawyer shit in the usual lawyer ways. They're basically Canadians with Arab names.

There are a lot of Muslim clients out there. I haven't met any with chin beards and fezzes who rant about killing Christians, although a small micro minority of Muslim-Canadians undoubtedly do that shit.

Most of them are ordinary immigrant people trying to find jobs and deal with transitioning to a new country. They do the same shit that blue collar white Canadians do, except that the Muslim immigrants are usually ridiculously over qualified for the jobs they're given.

Stereotyping is a problem for you people.

Hating is a problem for you people. More of a problem for you than for any Muslim I have ever dealt with.

Learning Arabic is an odd choice in an obsessively Euro-centric academic framework where kids are encouraged to study German - spoken by about 100M people - and not Mandarin, Bengali or Arabic. But there's no reason not to learn Arabic.

Get over it. My dad told me in 1965 that Italian immigration would destroy Canada. And those damn Italians never assimilated. They're still eating pasta and getting married in Catholic church - something that "real Canadians" never did in 1965.

There are a 2 million Muslim Canadians now. There will be twice as many in 20 years. Face it, guys. You're going to have to learn to eat couscous, just like my dad eventually tried pasta.

IMO Arabic is good for learning...almost 1/8 of the world speaks arabic...also comes in handy if you happen to find yourself in the Middle East...great food, great historic sites, Middle East has everything going for them...if you look past the conflicts happening there constantly. One of the best fucks I experienced was n Doha, Qatar.
